final decision i'm going to UCSB! any students right now or prospective students with info on honors program / good housing choices/ classes/ greek life/ social stuff/ ANYTHING you want to tell me that could be helpful don't hesitate!

a little about me to help narrow the scope of things
18 year old girl from orange county, honors student, high achieving and bound for honors college, LOVE to surf and party, not into high speed living, much more of a 'chiller'

thanks!

hey i am a current sophomore at ucsb

honors program is good. you need to maintain a cumulative 3.5 to stay in it. you get to register for classes before everyone else, which is good to get the times you want. you have to do 2 honors sections a year.

for housing, i suggest anacapa, santa cruz or santa rosa as first choice for dorms. anacapa was where i stayed and it was a great experience. i was on the scholar's floor and met a great group of smart and fun people. san nic and san miguel are smaller, and san nic has single-sex floors. ft is way too far out

the greek program is not that big because ucsb is already a very social school, but there are houses, parties, etc

classes, depends on your major/interests. ratemyprofessor does help

socially, there are always parties, things to do...

i hope this helped, it's a very general answer

*bump
hey awakenedream... funny i was browsing cc and found your thread from two years ago with ur apprehensive feelings toward sb after gettin in everywhere, but sd and up. i thought it was from this year so i was gonna reply. but i see it's pointless to do that now. i'm actually in the same situation that you were in two years ago. and yeah i chose sb.
my sister goes to sd and she says the honors program is pointless. is the honors program really worth it? and can you describe its requirements and benefits further? gracias.
