Theres no oxford board (to my knowledge). Does anyone here know:
1.) Where the nexus (if there is one) of Oxford activity on the net is?
2.) The attitude and lifestyle there?
3.) Anything?

The official sites say nothing about the real feel of the school.
I may want to spend junior year there, but i may unnecessarily be compromising a more exotic year in Japan or Spain. Yes, this is nothing i need to worry about right now, but i'm bored, so help me out.
I'm posting this here because Harvard is the phonetic and reputable equivalent, so I thought you were my best shot.

My aunt lives in Oxford and I visited it last Spring and I thought it was the most beautiful city I have ever been to...and I travel a lot. It was amazing. I felt that the people were really rude, though. The very first thing that anyone said to me when I got there was "What?! Someone is smiling in Oxford?!?!" The women, especially, scowled a whole lot.

The bad weather bit is rubbish, though, it was beautiful in March at a time when my home in Massachusetts still had 2 feet of snow. I loved it.

I don't know if you're a big drinker or anything, but I was able to just walk into pubs and order alcohol without showing proof of age, and I'm a sort of ditzy looking blonde girl who usually never passes for a day over 16. Oxford is a wicked fun city and close enough to London to go there for shows and such. British men are beautiful.

I'm not too attracted to the university, though. I mean, I'd be thrilled to study there, but they seem very uptight and stuffy and the application process is a *****.

The food in England is complete crap, too. Get used to marmite and gentlemen's relish.

haha! well... in London, I always ate non-English food... I had great Indian, Italian, and Japanese food, plus great cheap lunches from grocery stores like Sainsbury... and fish and chips were always good! dunno about Oxford though.

Definitely though applying to Oxford undergrad from America is really a drawn out and long process...and the deadline is very early. I considered it, but it was just too much for me, and when I tried to contact people to get more info they were on the whole pretty rude. Study abroad there is the best option.
