Tell me being a doctor is still a good profession after hearing so much negativity?

Lol, most of my family didn’t do what their parents did. My father was a doctor, didn’t like dealing with patients, so went into chem/pharm research. But, that was then, this is now. Kids get more exposure to healthcare before and during their med schooling.

I have relatives who are MDs and a dentist. Three of their kids are in medicine while a fourth is waiting to see if she is getting into med school. One is a podiatrist, married to a pathologist. One is in residency for dermatology, one is in his 3rd year of med school and hasn’t declared but leaning towards pediatrics. They all went in with eyes wide open and so far seem pretty pleased with their choices.

Several other friends advised their kids to be PAs instead of MDs. Some have opted to go that route instead and so far seem happy with their choice.

There are a lot of factors to consider. Keep an open mind—take the science courses and do some shadowing/internships to get a better sense of what she wants and the trade offs.
