Do I have a slim, decent, pretty good, etc. chance? Thanks, and be blunt please..

If you can get your GPA up a tad bit, I’d say you’re in. Also your from MO, which will help. Colleges look for geographic diversity. I’m from NYC, which hurt me. I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere good, but hopefully it’ll be penn, because it is the greatest college ever.

slim…why apply ed?

More leadership in ec’s and GPA needs a boost…Get some good recs and essays and go for it, but save ED for a school more fit to you, personally, since you said you never considered it before.

So you guys are on the fence about it. I wouldn’t apply to Penn RD just because I know I won’t get in, but if there’s a decent chance I can get in ED, I’ll apply. Otherwise a school like Northwestern ED seems more likely.

so, i’ll assume that u took all the ap tests that yr school offered. i wish u had a 5 in there, but who knows.
as ppl already said, try to boost that gpa
your state might help u.
i didn’t know u could get an 800 on writing and a 9 on yr essay.

You never know, you’re in the range for Penn, but there are too many applicants to give a straight answer. Continue to improve in every way you can, and apply ED only if you know its a perfect fit.

I think you’ve got a decent shot, especially if you continue to improve and get good recs & write good essays. Penn is a pretty holistic school that’s looking for someone that’s a good fit in all areas.
I agree, though, that you should only apply ED if you’re absolutely sure that Penn is THE school for you.
Good luck with everything!

I’d say borderline too - go for ED.

I think you have a great chance ED.

If you shoot for the moon, you’ll land in the stars. Or float in space. Or something like that.
I think some famous dude said that

aluminum_boat is exactly right. It’s hard to be any more specific, but you’re a very solid applicant and have as good a chance as any. Send in a CD of yourself playing along with the CommonApp performing arts supplement for some extra leverage. (Also, if you get in and come here, you’d better do symphony!) Good luck!

it’s good to know that I might have a decent chance! I know I would go to Penn if I got accepted, I really like that it’s a top school in a world-class city

Yeah. go for ED, because your GPA would stand a better chance there than in the RD applicant pool.

just don’t be one of those kids who thinks “Wow if apply penn ED I might have a shot at getting in to an Ivy. not even a fake Ivy like Cornell, but a legit Ivy! let’s go for it!” because if you get in you have to go, and 4 years is a long time

talons- you have a pretty good shot at Penn ED- obviously the 3 in AP Chem is less than ideal- but not everyone’s application is bullet proof- I wouldn’t worry too much about the HS GPA- your SAT, ACT and extracurriculars more than compensate. What you need to do is study hard for the SAT2s and knock them out of the park- i.e. get scores similar to your SAT1. Northwestern is a great school and for the things you might want to do- medicine, law, finance, consulting, journalism… there aren’t any differences between Penn CAS and NU.

I think you have a pretty good chance at Penn ED. If Penn is truly youre first choice, you should apply ED
