I took a diagnostic test (SAT I) and got like 600's in all 3 sections. I was pretty suprised because I thought i'd get like 400's because i did not prep for it and it was my first practise test.
Then, I got 700's in my 2nd practise test. I was really happy.

Then I got 400's in my 3rd. I was sad but I knew could improve.

Then I got 550's in my 4th. I was saddish but i had hope.

Then I got 750/800's and I was overjoyed.

Then I got 400/500's and I was very shocked.

Then I got 750's and I was happy (weird happy).

Then I got 400's again and I was like ~ strange..

Then TODAY I got 450/520's and I was NOT shocked, NOT sad, I was angry.

What is it with my score fluctuations? I don't know why this is happening!** Is this happening to anyone else?** I got 6 days to prepare. I need atleast a 600! And the thing is - i have no motivation because I know I'm going to take this again next year. This is the worst time for procrastination.

has this happend to anyone else? I don't even know what to ask because I don't know what's wrong with me. I think I just want to know if this is normal. Is this normal?

The difference between high 700s and low 400s is pretty big. I would say that maybe you don't truly understand what you did to get the high scores, but then it's pretty difficult to score in the high 700s and have no clue what you're doing.

Review your past tests. Look at every question and explain to yourself why you got it right/wrong. If you got it wrong, tell yourself what you should have done to get it right lol. Do you get low scores because of stupid mistakes or because you truly don't know how to answer th question?

That's really weird! One factor might be your testing environment... Are you taking the tests in different places with distractions? Are you taking some tests early morning, some late at night, etc? How you are feeling while taking the test can have a big factor on your performance.

yeah they're all from the Princeton review book with like 10 tests or something.

The testing environment is the same: the library. Around about 12~4 (holidays right now) I even have the same amount of water while taking the test..

I truly don't know how to answer those questions.. but I usually omit them. And I study them. After I study them, I take another test.. I think I tend to think more and waste more time.
Omg, i think i found my problem.. Maybe I over-analyze?
Cos, the test I first take, I go with my instincts and stuff. Then after I study those little errors, I take another test. Then I think alot while answering.
I think I THINK too much!
How do I overcome the 'think too much' thing?
(thanks above-posters!)

do you really know the answers your marking down. The only thing i can think of is that you're randomly going through the tests, and sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're not.

You must know the basics though, cuz to get multiple 750s based on luck alone means you are one lucky dude/dudette.

But I agree with iwannabe_Brown. Check over the answers you got right as well as wrong. Check over everything. Make sure you understand.

lol no depression. just mild stress
wantexeter, i'm in newzealand so i can't realy take a kaplan class.. although i have thier practise test books and stuff
iwannabe_Brown, SchoolDuh0610, I also thought it was luck in the start. Maybe it is luck. I'm not sure. If this is luck, hopefully it'll stay with me till saturday......
and thanks crazy14, i'll take another test and go along with my instincts! i hope it turns out ok.
Thanks everyone!

don't freak out these fluctuations just be cool on the day of the actual test u have the capability to get a good score sinse your hghest scores were preety high.
Just check the topics that were being emphaised on the tests u performed badly, often some practice tests might have more weightage for a particular type of question that u are not too good at, just go and revise those chapters.
If you have had so many prac tests you should get something like 700+, if u remain calm and perform to the best of your potential.
Sleep well before the actual test.

thanks freebird!
hopefully, saturday will be one of those 'lucky' days..
lol i always remain calm in tests.. hmm.. it's more like excitement. i'm excited to take the test.
