HI! I'm from Thailand
could any help tell me my chances for ED and normal?
I took sat in june and here my scores..

math:640
CR:550
W:620
=1810

I'm from public school in Thailand.
My school doesn't teach in English
we have class with american teacher just once a week(one hour)
and my Thai english teacher teaches like an v. old English, my foreign teacher told that
so can this be an excuse for my low CR scores?
i'm not sure if i could do like 600+ in this october. it's so hard for me, but i hope that

someone told me that if you're not the american then got scores like 600+ in all three subject that's just enough,
after this you'll have to depend on your essay and recommend..??
the best scores in Thailand in this year as I know is around 650.

I'm club president of social service club in my school
volunteer at house for homeless children & the aged
I'm a story writer for them
I also teache English for Grade7-9 student for charity after the school.

I was a class president for one year

sport: i played tennis but now i'm training to be a bodycombat trainer.
it's take lots time and i don't think i'm gonna succeed for i have to study
to get in Thai Uni. as well. though i play well, my friends call me sportman haha.

tell me my chance please? I think that i might get around 2000 in october.
more than that sounds tooooo impossible ):

Your English typing (and im sure speaking as well) skills are lacking. Your SAT scores are fine but they are not exactly up to par with applicants to the likes of Dartmouth. However, you’re from an underrepresented country and that should prove helpful. Show them that you really want Dartmouth and that you can offer them something, too. Apply ED and you juuuuustttt might get in. Good luck.

your english skills aren’t THAT bad, i’m sure it actually takes quite a bit of studying to get to the proficiency levels of which you’re at. that being said however, you’re an international w/ subpar scores, so i doubt you’ll get in. improve your SAT maybe? most internationals get some leeway on the CR, but your math is pretty low too, which internationals usually ace, along w/ writing.

Judging by your scores and your writing in this post you might have a hard time keeping up if you did get in.

It’s not clear exactly what you mean by “my Thai english teacher teaches like an v. old English, my foreign teacher told that.” If what you mean is that your English teacher teaches “old-fashioned” traditional English, then frankly I think you would be likely to do BETTER on the CR section as a result.

The question I always have is why D? What makes it attractive to you other than that you have heard that D, unlike the vast majority of US schools, will give financial aid to internationals?

hey sleepipooh, I am also an international.

As for your question about the low CR score, my answer is NO. You probably know that international application pool is more selective. Colleges will understand your situation, but you should keep in mind that there are thousands of foreign applicants’ first languages are also not English.

I think what you can do is study hard for Oct. test and ask your teacher(who write your rec) to explain the situation in your English class. If possible, you may want to ask your teacher to write how hard you work to improve English or how your performance at Eng Class stands out from other students. Good Luck!

why D is attractive to me?
hmm… actually in Thailand people here hardly know dartmouth
but it just keeps appearing in the movies and the novels I like.
that’s my the first liking (:
not for its ivy.

like breaking dawn and gossip girl.
first i’m kinda not interested in these at all
and they turn out to be so fun haha.
there is another movie I watched in HBO
maybe its name is homeless to harvard
(not that i hope this u. haha it looks so farrrr)
but good inspiration anyway. try them! ^^
