I have a bad SAT of 1700-ish from around 2 years ago, I will try to pick it up to 2300 by junior year.

Prev. SAT score:
Math:710
Reading:500
Writing:490

Ideal SAT score:
Math:800
Reading:750-790
Writing:750-790

But my math improved drastically after I only studied math for 2-4 months, so I guess the others will too if I do that to them too.
* I am indian =((((((
* I am a sophomore
* Skipped 8th Grade
* Did Math League(1 year), Academic Challenge(2years), Academic Decathlon(1year), Spanish Club
* Piano
* about 30 hours of volunteering
* Am going to finish AP Calc BC by end of month( probably with A, but Exam will range 3-5)
* Am going to finish AP Physics B also with around a B+ to A+, and hopeful 5 on exam.
* Part of the a juggling club (at the university -LOL)(2 years)
* GPA unweighted = 3.77 ( I think, I don't know how to calculate it..)
* GPA weighted = is 3.97( I think I am calculating it wrong, can someone tell me how..?=))
* Took a neuroscience summer program, fast paced bio summer program
* Know C and Java
* Admitted to Study of Exceptional Talent( It's just underaged kids who got 700 so it is nbd in my opinion or is it?)
*In 7th grade I took the ACT but I slept during all the tests except for Math, because I wanted to qualify for SET and they wanted a 30 I think in math OR reading, and it would not go on my record anyway before high school. And I did not feel well during the exam so I got a 28 in math, I could probably pull of a 36 in math 34 in science, 33 in the rest.

FUTURE + Questions

*I want to take Calc 3 and 4
*Should I become a president of something, if so what?
* Is NHS worth the time, or could I use the time for calc and extracurrics?
*Sports worth anything? I weigh less than other kids bc I skipped a grade but I can do most non contact sports that involve coordination and not physical things such as height. ( sports like tennis, volleyball)
*What AP's should I take? What languages should I learn? Instruments?
* Will having a fast time for Rubik's cube do anything for you? I know someone who got in and he juggles and is nationally ranked for rubiks cube blindfolded, onehanded, fastest in general, 4x4x4 and least moves. I am pretty sure that had a lot to do with him getting in but not sure?

Thanks for feedback. =). Cheers
YannoMe is online now

OT: Rubix’s cube? Really? No. Anyone can do a Rubix’s cube.
The following, however, is a TRUE STORY:

My friend has an 88 average and he applied to Brown. During his interview, he noticed that the Brown alum had a Rubix’s cube on her desk. He did the most amazing thing ever–he took the cube off her desk and solved it in 18 seconds (a little longer than usual). The alum was impressed. Needless to say, he was accepted.

I know, I know–JUST LIKE THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR!!

Also, bring up that SAT score. It’s sad.
Don’t join clubs just to “look better” on your application.
Study.

Uhhh… There are many seventh graders who get better scores than what you did in seventh grade so calm the f*** down…JoJoBear was just being realistic. You’re being a pushover. Rubiks Cube? Seriously? Do something being you like it and could potentially excel or create something out of it. Asking someone if you should start practicing solving Rubiks Cubes to get into college is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read on CC. What languages should I take? What sports are worth playing? What INSTRUMENTS should I play?! You’re pathetic…

My piece of advice: do things that interest you and don’t post threads like these on CC. It won’t do you any good.

@Swim18, your post was rather rude in my opinion. Calling people “pathetic” on college forums is a bit immature. Sorry.

@yannome, it was almost unnecessary to post this thread right now. Your test scores are only projected, and if you really do get a 2300 SAT then yes, you clearly do have a shot at Princeton. But you ask the same question everyone else asks: what do I do to get into Princeton? And there is NO set answer. There’s no guidbook or how-to manual. You should know this by now. Study and join what you’re INTERESTED in, and hope that’s what Princeton is looking for. Because admissions comms are not stupid; they can see right through a person who joined ten clubs because they thought it would get them into an Ivy League. A person who played one sport and one instrument because they wanted to come across “well-rounded”. These days admissions prefers to see kids who’ve dedicated themselves to a select few things they are SERIOUSLY passionate about.

You should have read the post he wrote in response to JojoBears’ feedback (before he deleted it somehow). It deserved a harsh reply in my opinion…

Be yourself in your essays. Throw yourself into activities that you’re passionate about. Don’t worry about the nitty gritty of the SAT scores. Strive to do your best and to make a difference to those around you - and do that because you want to, not because you want to get into Princeton.

Haha you’ve got to be kidding me.
You’ve got some crazy classes for a sophomore.
I guess only thing left to do is raise your GPA, work on your standarized Tests, and, oh yeah, DO ACTIVITIES THAT YOU ENJOY!!!
Don’t become a president of chinese club (example) just because you want your app to look nice. Do things that truly interest you, because the whole point of an app is to show adcom who you are (and other things that cannot/was not portrayed in your essay).

I dunno, I’m not an expert or anything but I think you have a nice shot at princeton if you raise your scores and grades…
