Tell me your score range, and answer few questions, and i ll give u individual help

1940 (CR- 680, Math-660, Writing-600)

twice (second score has not come out yet)

20

11

Gruber’s, Kaplan, Princeton Review, I also go to Karen Dillard’s College SAT prep center

2200 plus

Writing by far

UT austin, UT Dallas, Austin College, Southwestern University

two more (for the may one- i have about a month)

@bang: take 15 more practice tests. for math, solve a lot of miscellaneous problems, and buy klasstutoring solutions for the bb to understand whats really going on.
so more practice tests for you. from 2200 to 2300, you need a lot of practice to cut silly mistakes
btw it’s relevant to see what you are prepping for. you know, if you want to go to like millersville university, you dont need a 2250+

@celebcj
buy REA’s PSAT prep, memorize all the words within REA (i also had REA, i think best book for PSAT prep and solve practice tests for the SAT. skip the essay section. take about 25+ practice tests.)

@zhangm94
not a really hard case. just solve 30+ practice tests. half of the BB is only like 5 practice tests.
buy kaplans 12
pr 11
and mc graw hills practice tests

@Swimfan1994
get rid of barrons till you finish
kaplans 12
pr 11
and mc graw hills practice tests
and then go back to barons and check out how u are doing.

@hhyy365
i think you need to brush up the basics, and then you have the potential of getting at least 2250+.
get rocket review for CR, direct hits and hot vocab for CR;
math, get grubers complete guide for the new sat '(2005 edition is fantastic, not a lot of money, same material)
then start taking practice tests, after you know how to approach some of the questions.
finish BB asap, then start with kaplans 12 practice tests and princeton r. 11 practice tests.

@motivated_101
thats a pretty respectable score for just doing 10 practice tests.
buy 35 more to get into the range of 2250

@skeeppudi
good, do grubers and kaplan, for writing, i suggest making a template for the essay section and memorizing the format.
then do 11 more practice tests. does dillards SAT Prep center help?
by kaplan, pr, do you mean a guide or practice tests?

best of luck to all of you

Basically all I need is a 100 point jump in CR. Math and Writing are already finished.

I would take what lebronjames says with a grain of salt. In all honesty, taking over 20 or even 15 Practice tests is absolutely ridiculous and books such as Kaplan’s & McGraw Hill are both a waste of time and money.

^While I do agree that Kaplan and McGraw Hill are both a waste of time and money, I do believe that taking many practice tests is the way to go (for us non-gifted students). For some students, like Jersey (2400 scorer) that is obviously way over the top, but for many of the students here, practice is the only way to a 2200+ or whatever.

My 2 cents

my gpa is real high im not stupid. i just never have really “gotten” the reading or writing. like for passage based questions i got only 5 wrong but died on the sentence completion (vocab) and writing was just generally bad (58 raw) then i thought i wrecked the essay but ended with an 8 and only -3 on math and brought me to a 720.

any advice would be great

What is your weakest section? Balanced in Reading/Math, but my fill-in-sentence vocab. is terrible (14/19 on that); passage-based is a little better. In Math I just feel like the curve really screwed me over? 590 was better than expected, but I aim to pull off atleast mid-600s in math with prep. Here’s my section breakdown for math, I don’t really know how to evaluate that cause again, I have trifling mistakes across the board:

Jersey13,

Taking 15-20 practice is ridiculous for the intelligent such as yourself. Some people, like Noitaraprep who wrote the famous CR guide, took over 25 practice tests to attain the famous 2400. It’s all about who you are and your current situation.

Okay, this maybe a little off topic…but I would really appreciate it if someone could review the different non-CB books with practice tests (PR, Kaplan, McGraw-Hill & Barron’s). Maybe, OP would have a good reply for this since he is familiar with so many different test-books. The reviews preferably would address the practicality and comparative difficulty of the questions with regards to official tests. Thanks to anyone who replies to this!

@scionn: try kaplans SAT critical reading book. plus take at least 5+ practice tests the month before.
@idk
haha, well, i started learning english in 6th grade. take that, lol. anyways, you are pretty good. try kaplans SAT Critical reading book. their passages help and they also have decent solutions.
@crouch88
start with bluebook, then you will advance.
do them in order:
kaplan
Mcgrawhills
PR
Barrons.
Now try taking bluebook tests, or official 10 real SATs again. you will see the difference. (how much you advanced=)
@jersey. well, thanks for the input! i started learning english 4 and a half years ago. i dont know, for native speakers, but SAT needs practice. and look, 30 practice tests arent that many. lets say you do 2 a week? highly achievable in 4 months.
also kaplan prep guide is a waste of time and money. but, Kaplan practice tests are extremely accurate.
@kmigasde
for writing, buy 411 writing questions for the SAT. otherwise you are in good shape.
@jerrry4445
ARGHHH! DONT start with barrons! choose a different prep book and buy kaplans SAT practice tests.
@candynobad373
buy klasstutoring SAT supplement. it gives you answers to bluebook, so that will dramatically help you understand the mindset of the test writers.
@jkpark8010
you seem like a korean, (no offense, cause of the name =)
ditto my comment for candy. for CR sometimes you have to understand the mindset of the testtaker.
@prattennis_1
buy grubers SAT prep book. it helps a lot for a math refreshener.
@purplepotato
wow, good job! with no practice? well, try to finish at least the bluebook. that will be fit for you.
@cornetking222
i wholeheartedly agree with you.

best of luck GUYS!!! (and or GALS!!)
yours,
lebron

Thanks. By the way, I was wondering…did you list the tests in terms of increasing difficulty?

@crouch
yes. that way, you will practice, but also learn to expect the order of difficulty.
actually barrons are not that bad. they are pretty helpful for hard questions

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll check it out
and haha nice. I started in 4th grade
