Telling every Prof that u're transferring...

I have a question regarding mid-year reports. It asks for the grades up-to-date and a prof signature for each. Does that mean that I have to go to each prof and asks him/her to sign?

Is there some way to do it w/o telling every prof I am transferring out of my current university?

Don't worry about telling them. I've told pretty much every prof I've had in the last year and a half that I'm looking to transfer and every one of them has been supportive. It's pretty much been "If you can go to a better school, get out of here and go for it." (There's nothing vitally wrong with my current school, it's just one of those that accept like 90% of people that apply).

Yes, you will need to get their initials/signature. Don't be apologetic. If you want to hedge your bets, tell them that you are not sure but may want to transfer and so you are submitting these applications. You don't have to tell them the real reason either. Make one up that is comfortable for you. EXCEPTION: profs from whom you want recommendations; probably best to let them know your thinking, what you are looking for... as it will help them write a good recommendation for you.

Profs will not think ill of you for considering a transfer. You are not the first and you won't be the last.

Where are the midterm reports? Are they on the CommonApp site?

Not all schools require them, wayward. I haven't checked CA site this season. But many of those that require them have their own forms. Others ask for them and don't have a form (?!?!). For those, you can just mock up a form on Excel or any format you like. Or take one school's form, copy it without the school name and use that for other schools.

I don't think any of my professors asked what they were signing. I just told them it was a mid-year report.

But if they ask, be honest about it.

Thanks for the tips!
