Word got out that I'm not going to my current school next year thanks to my sister, after I told her not to tell anyone yet, and I've been getting mixed responses from everyone. Most of them think I'm too good for the school I go to now and told some of the teachers that. A few of the kids there and sad and some are happy (lol). I really want to keep in contact with everyone at my school, and since I'm not going to boarding school I can still go to games and dances and stuff, but I'll still miss everyone.

So what kind of responses have you been getting from people once they found out you're changing schools. (day or boarding) How do you plan on keeping in contact with everyone?

Leaving, moving, changing is part of life. When I left my old boarding school, everyone knew it was going to happen at some point. The school didn't really send kids to colleges (no college office, nothing) and I was headed for something better, so I left. It was sad, but it was inevitable.

Leaving my job at the library was harder, though! It took me days to get up the courage to tell people I was leaving.

wow it's interesting this thread start today because word just got out at my current school that i'm attending bs. i got a few "i'm sorry"'s from some people but my friends thought it was really cool and that i was really lucky to have such an oppurtunity. some more of my classmates were kinda surprised that boarding schools actually existed! i thought that was a little weird but overall everyone was pretty happy and excited for me.

i dont know how , but one day last month everyone came up to me and was like "you're going to boarding school?" and i was like yeah. and lots of ppl were like "That sucks. Did your parents want to send u there?"
and i was like "No."
and then ppl were like" you're weird"

Ahh, I need to join Facebook, but they don't have an option for 2011 Class.

Um... my friends aer sad. One of them is really upset because usually people leave our school after 8th grade (it's K-9) and she got into Hotchkiss and L'ville but decided to stay, though none of her (and my) friends are staying.

All of my teachers are sad and want me to stay; one of my teachers will miss me talking to him in the morning. Um... everyone was so happy for me when I got in because I was crying and running around and my math teacher went ballistic and then SHE started crying because she knew how happy I was... my English teacher (a guy) was really straight-faced and all HE said was "I expect a perfect speech on Tuesday." So I'm like, "O-kay..."

Basically, everyone doesn't want me to leave. And they know about boarding school because three other people in my grade are going away. One girl is a two-time legacy at Hotchkiss which is where she's going, then this other girl and guy are going to SGS.

Hi it's AliJ's daughter, Minna, again.lol. When i told my friends at school that i got in, some of them were like woah that is soooo cool cuz i wudn't stop counting down the days till i found out if i got in haha. some of my other friends were like...that's not good...ur leaving. haha. my teachers were pretty happy too, though now they say that they don't want me to leave. haha

I'm already at a private school so pretty much 2/3 of my class is leaving. My entire Honors English class is leaving, All but two from my honors latin class are leaving, Half of my honors math is leaving, and 4/5 of my honors history section is leaving. Science, my non-honors class, has less people leaving because some didn't get in but even 1/3 of that class is leaving. Only one person, who's in the grade above me, is going to Choate with me next year and he's Rakoon from Thailand.

I'm a bit of a coward when it comes to face-to-face confrontation, so I only told three-four of my closest friends in june, and the rest in august, two weeks before school started.

it was sad, but slightly hilarious. My friends IMed me, like, "I'm so excited to start high school! I can't wait to see you in two weeks!"

And I would IM back, like, "um...I'm not actually going."

And they got slightly hysterical with disbelief on AIM, and it was sad....
and while it's possible to correspond with your old friends, trust me, you'll fall out of contact with most of them, and you'll be sad, but you'll also be OK cuz you have new friends, too. I know some people who have retained many of their old friends, and others who have not talked to their best friend in years. I know that it seems simple to be friends forever, but people don't realize sometimes how time and distance can seperate people so easily.

hahaa

I still can't believe that I'm leaving the school that I've been going to for nine years!!! ahhhh

well my closest friends knew i was applying, and once i got in and they knew i was going, word spread. so now about once a week i get the "omg youre leaving?..."
"...yes, im going to boarding school"
"ohhh so youre parents are sending you"
"actually, no it was my choice"
"WHY. idiot."
its gets funny the second or third time
