:) Probably many would-be applicants/thread posters don’t know about it yet as PSAT scores havent been released it. Plus after a few program rejections, I’ve learned not to get TOO excited about a program in case things fall on the wayside. But trust me, I have done some serious TASP stalking in fits of excited frenzy for a while (i’ve wanted to apply since May? yeah)

hey guys, just wondering, but has anyone received a brochure from tasp yet?

Application is on online I think. You can check their website for the brochure.

Guyys the app is open

Yes we TASPers from 2013 are honorably featured in the brochure: check it out!

Good luck on the applications and feel free to ask any question on this thread.

hi everyone! i’m a TASSer from 2013 applying to TASP this year. hopefully the admissions processes for TASS and TASP are fairly similar :)

Who’s excited to start writing?!! I have a question about the books: fiction or non-fiction? Does it matter?

doesn’t matterrrrrr

aw darn. means i didn’t do well enough on the psat to get a brochure haha ah well.

i’m thinking of doing an unfinished online work for my analysis. do you guys think that would be okay?

i think an online work would be fine, as long as you explain the nature of the work. if it’s a multimedia thing (e.g. homestuck) you might have to do some more explanation than you would if it’s just a straight-up webcomic (e.g. ava’s demon).

great thanks!

Do students apply to a particular program? I understand that there are four different sections, but I did not see a place to put preferences on the application. How does this work?

Do PSAT scores even matter? I heard that it’s mostly about the essays but I just want to make sure. I am pretty disappointed with my PSAT

brankl: there is a place to put program preferences, and one of the essay questions asks you to discuss why you want/don’t want to attend each program.
medadvice: as far as I know, psat scores only help to nominate candidates. they have no role in the application process.

Will TASP check with your school if your critical analysis is actually from a book you read in school (aka Summer Reading)?

Ok I think that makes sense. I will apply to the program and not one individual section, but I will let them know which seminars I’m interested in. Thanks.

My son attended TASP last summer and had an amazing experience. PSAT scores were not used in the application process. You do not report them. You apply to the TASP program in general, not a specific seminar. Application question 5 refers to the different seminars. I strongly encourage folks to read the Telluride Association/TASP website. It has a lot of excellent information. Finally, be honest. Do not use a book you read in school for critical analysis. Your integrity is of paramount importance.

To the person who private messaged me, I do not have enough posts to respond.
Sorry

I’m curious, how many of your guys’ tasps was international? It’s competitive enough in the U.S, let alone outside I’m thinking.

well, i live in the US and have been living here for about 7 years now, but i’m technically international, since i’m canadian.
