:) I agree with everyone about not being disappointed if you are not admitted, etc. I received my rejection letter from TASP in the 1st round and was really disappointed and depressed for days. I tried applying to SIMR, SSP, Clark Scholars next and was rejected by both SIMR and SSP. Clark Scholars, the program that I thought I had the least chance at, actually accepted me. In the end, I now get to go to an awesome program 5 hours’ drive away from where I live. So way less transportation fee compared to the other programs I applied to.
Even before I was accepted at Clark Scholars, though, I already had plans made for my summer(getting driver’s license, research with friend locally, tutor kids, work part time, and write essays for ED —there are always plenty to do!) if I was rejected by all the programs. So I am happy either way.
So, the morale of my long post is…don’t be sad, there are always alternate options out there and wonderful experiences you can have in the summer even if you are not accepted to your dream program.

@fairyfantasy Yes, and if it comes down to it, it is still okay to spend some of the summer actually relaxing and enjoying the beauty of pure leisure. :)

To anyone who is left on the boards, were your emails addressed specifically to you or were they directed to someone else?

Also, did anyone receive their factota emails or forms yet?

Just wondering, because my parents are getting slightly worried. :/

S’s email was addressed something like “TASP winner”, but the official letter came in the mail shortly after. Didn’t you receive it? No forms or emails beyond that though. I assume since they said you had until May 9th to inform them of your decision that the forms won’t be sent until after that date.

Correction-forms came today. Hope you received yours too.

Did the forms come through email?

Also, was your son’s email sent directly to him or was it sent to (to: …) someone else?

Thanks for your response. :)

@FizzySoda The forms and the email were directly sent to winners. No reason to be concerned about it; that would be a really big mistake if they made it. I am sure you have been genuinely accepted. :)

@fizzysoda not sure what you are saying about your acceptance email. As I said the original acceptance email did not have S’s name on it at all, but was addressed “Dear TASP Winner.” The forms packet came in the mail. It was from Cornell, but Michigan may have a different time line. If you never received your acceptance letter in the mail that is odd and you should just call them so you can ease your mind.

Haha, I wasn’t too worried about that exactly, but I was getting kind of paranoid that they misread my RSVP or something.

I emailed her and just now got forms and everything. Thank you both so much~

I don’t know what compelled me to check the boards and log in, but it’s almost comical that this thread continues year after year. I’m ancient, but I would have never heard of TASP if this thread didn’t exist back in '06/'07/'08.

Congrats to everyone who got in. If you didn’t, don’t sweat it. At the end of the day it’s just a summer program - uniquely structured, sure, but still a summer program. Really.

Anyone get their factota emails yet?

this is late, but congrats to everyone who got in! i didn’t even make it past the first round lol… but I have learnt so much through the application and essay writing process! im so excited for you guys :)

Hi, I am also an alternate for TASP. I’m just wondering has any alternate heard from TASP yet?

@lonelymomo I believe that the first of June will be the earliest that most people can expect to hear because that is the final due date for medical forms and personal details by TASPers. If any of us fail to complete the information or discovers obstacles to attendance, alternates will be contacted. It is probably a little early to know for certain and for people to have dropped out.

@lonelymomo Just to clarify, that is all speculation based on the dates given in letters and emails.

@kpalm1111 Thanks a lot! But in the email, it said they would try to notify us by 5/15… Keeping my fingers crossed still XD
