Telluride Association Summer Program ( TASP ) 2008

It's early, I know, but who's applying?

I think I am..but we'll see after my psat :)

Eeee! TASPplicants!

Auxsoleil - TASP doesn't care about psat scores. Although they do send out brochures based on those scores, it doesn't matter! I never got a brochure in the mail (:(), and just downloaded it from the website.

I'm excited for you all :D and am totally going to stalk this thread.

Hey guys,

When do applications actually appear on the website?

When are essay topics revealed?

Thanks in advance for the help.

My son is totally bummed -- TASP ends several days after he starts school, so he won't be able to attend :(

It will be from June 29th to August 9th this year and he starts school in Wales on August 7th -- and I don't think either the school or TASP allows any wiggle room on the dates.

@ ajcorner- Seminar topics and applications are posted around late November, I think. As for the essays, there's nothing to be "revealed"- the required 6 are a book list of what you've read in the past year, what your future goals are, discussion of a political issue important to you, a critical analysis of a book/poem/film that influenced you, a conflict you resolved and how, and ranking + explanation of your seminar preference (there will be 4 this year, I believe. 2 Cornell, 1 UMich, 1 UTexas, no more WashU).

@ hsmomstef: that's a bummer. You could always check to be absolutely sure, but I, too, had an understanding that Telluride didn't allow things like missing/leaving any portion of the program.

YAY!!! I have been waiting for the appearance of this thread for a very, very long time. Last year I definitely stalked the TASP thread. That was a pretty successful thread, wasn't it?

In any case, I'm definitely applying. I'd love to get in, but don't know if I'll be able to. Whatever, it doesn't hurt to apply, does it?

And I knew that they got rid of the WashU one, but what was the reasoning behind that? Anyone know?

If the school really doesn't want the kid to miss the first few days, I'm sure Telluride would be willing. But is the school really that strict? I know my school says they won't let you miss the first day, but there are loads of people who do...Don't give up hope, now, ask first :D

ahhhhh jenny just informed me the 08 thread is up. i'm a little creeped out to know that some stalked the 07 thread, but then again i read the 06 thread during application times so i should've expected as much. heheh, new batch of taspers! how exciting. don't stress out and pleeeeease apply if you have any interest in going. i applied last year not expecting anything, and it ended up being one of the best decisions i ever made.

oh and some of my fellow taspers (tako) said i sounded snottily calm on last year's thread... so i apologize in advance for sounding like i was "brinking on arrogance." (jenny, <3)

=)

Ah, roam <3 I miss you :(

!

Tako, Roam, new TASPplicants, yay! This thread just made my day.

Oh, and don't stress about the application now. Most of the kids at our TASP did their applications in the very last minute. Mine was submitted online 1 minute before the deadline, and I had just finished one of my essays. It'll all be fine.

UBER!!!!!!!!!!! (i just typed your name and then i went back and fixed it.) :)

oh and to whoever asked about washu: well, michigan is still in tact, meaning it is superior to all of washu's hair-cake-sending glory. hehe, just kidding, i love the washers too.

Wow, this thread IS early!

I attended the Wash U TASP this past summer, and contrary to what Roamorse says, it was the BEST one, hands down. Really, no argument there.
But yes, there won't be one at Wash U next summer. It had to do with funding from the school, nothing to do with our TASP. Nonetheless, looks like there will only be 4 TASPs in 08 - good luck everyone! And don't stress too much (I know, I know...incredibly hypocritical of me, but Telluride really knows what they're doing - it will all work out in the end).

If you have any questions/concerns, I'd be happy to help :)

hehe inky. our prank was so much more useful.... i mean, seriously. we thought washu put laxatives in the godiva chocolate. anyways...

does that mean there are going to be -17 spots this year? hmmmm. anyways, i'll try to check this thread, too, in case people have questions =)

yay! :) i'm really excited for this thread and have been waiting to apply to TASP for a long time (even though it's reallllly early). anyways, just wanted to see the competion

So now the TASP thread is here. Welcome, everyone. I'll use moderator powers to add the expanded form of the program name to the thread title so that people new to this forum know what the thread is about.

Oh my god! TASP 2008! You should all apply. Brilliant decision. Definitely. Jenny! Susan! Amir! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow. My enthusiasm knows no bounds. (No one take essay tips from uber. Trust me.) Oh, and UMich TASP was so incredibly BEEYONDD any of the others. No offense, WashUers. (or UTAustiners, or Cornellians)

Hmmmmmm I think I might apply..

ONEGOODGIRL!!!! GAH!

LOL, the essay tips. HAHA, I hope I didn't do any permanent damage =/... hehe... And Roam was in it too (points finger and exclaims in an accusatory tone)!

ONEGOODGIRL!!!

I called you yesterday. Did you get my message? :D Oh man, UMich is totally pwning this thread ;) TASP love! Eeeee!
