Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP) 2018

I know the 2017 program hasn’t ended yet, but yeah let’s talk about next year’s TASP.

Yep I agree. Does anyone know the 2018 program deadlines and dates?

Hi! I’m somebody who got in this year (well, um maybe last year since I’m on this forum) but decided not to attend. But, I want you guys to know- be relaxed about this! You are smart and talented people. They know that. Just show them who you are and what made you who you are.

yo 2018 application is out!

dude it’s out like 7 days ago lol

Ik I just thought I would announce it in case anyone wasn’t checking

Does it help with college admission?

What is so good about TASP? looks like a typical “race-class-gender-diversity” program. Yes, it is FREE, however, it takes time that student may use for employment, internship, etc.

Is it really helpful for college admission?

@dogandcat it’s the most selective summer program in the US
Gigantic boost on your college apps, as compared to a job or internship. It isn’t a sucky program like many are. It really is worth it.

so excited/ nervous to start app!!

starting TASP apps, didnt really realize how crazy it was until I saw the 3-page-long essay questions. this is one of the first apps where im extremely excited to start it! it seems extremely challenging, but at this point, the challenge is serving as a way for me to get even more excited. even if i dont get accepted, it will become one hell of a learning process.

trying to get in tho

omg everyone has started TASP apps! so stressful!!!

Finished my short questions pretty quickly, will return to them after around 2 weeks to try and objectively judge them again.

These essay questions are really interesting: I really like all 3, I can’t decide which one I like the most. I also like how you can explain something that went wrong with your grade (my freshmen year was a fat YIKES but I have multiple personal reasons for that, plus my ECs (which im taking as inspiration for essays) are so bomb and my soph/junior current grades are mostly AP with all As that I think theyd be willing to look over my freshmen year, provided I accurately explained).

I just wanna say good luck everyone! This is an exTREmely competitive program, and I know that it’s almost like a dream to get in. But might as well try !!

Don’t worry too much about your grades; they place VERY LITTLE emphasis on them. The essays and interview (if you’re chosen as a finalist) hold the most weight.

Good luck everyone!

Hi, In the list of movies, books, etc, Do we have to explain why do we like them?

Probably not; if something is REALLY important to you, maybe. but its asking u to list a large amt of things from a pretty broad field, so i think u could easily not actually describe anything.

Although I haven’t put pen paper in regards to any of the essay questions yet, I’m really troubled by the question asking us to describe how we’ve hurt someone and what we did to mend it. I don’t even really know where to begin. How do you go about this without either humble-bragging your virtues of telling the TASP essay reviewers that you’ve done something awful?

Sorry to double post, but in addition, I’m curious about how exactly the interviews are used to weed out 50% of the remaining applicants. What are they looking for to make the decision of acceptance/rejection?

To both of yours,

1 It probably doesn't have to be something too severe, just tell that story and flesh it out.

2 i heard its a p long interview, but this is all from reading on forums, so ud have to fact check me on this. (then again, cc is literally a forum, so LOL idk) apparently the interview is long, and they grill u, among other things, on ur essay to make sure u were the ones who wrote them. they probably use the interview as a way to test u under pressure, to see how u would then most likely work in an environment like TASP, where since there is a good amt. of work, i assume there is a good amt of stress.

My kid just got notified he’s been nominated to TASP. I can’t get to the application website from work - is the application really scary?
