Whose applying?

nobody is at all excited that the programs are finally out???

im suprised i have to bump this again

if i was a sophomore i would be excited unfortunately im only a freshman

I was going to apply, but it doesn't seem as interesting as TASP...

I didn't think it would be until they came out with the topics, I like the medical one.

i went to TASS this summer at UMich and it was amazing the only difference between Tasp and Tass at Umich were topics and curfews. Our house was way cooler; they even stole our food and games. But the summer was amazing..its a life changing experience and you'll never forget it. You truly make life long friends.

contrary to the above poster's opinion, the TASP house was way cooler. I mean, we had a subscription to Muscle Magazine. kthnxbi.

So would doing the program at Umich be better than the one at Indiana University

bump

Sorry this is so late, but I'm torn between the two. Leaning towards the U- Michigan program..

^haha, I'm leaning towards both equally. I really like both of them. Now though, my parents are discouraging me from even applying because they are worried about the distance but they're also telling me they won't send me to some big expensive summer program either. So I need to spend the next month persuading them a lot.

Haha, I'm going for more of the apply, and then mention it route.

I'm thinking about it but i hate writing essays. i like the michigan one

I want to apply but I fail at writing. Maybe I'll just try applying anyway, I mean it can't hurt to just try, can it?

No, it won't. Plus if you get in, it will probably help your writing a lot. That's what I am hoping for at least.

How long are you guys' booklists?

I have a friend, too, who's thinking of applying, so I'm bumping this.

GL to the...2 people that are applying. I think this is the one for African-Americans, with the exception of the once-in-a-while-White-person?

Oh and, if anyone who went to this is reading this, it'd be nice if you described what you do there primarily, and also if it's worth applying/going there even if you aren't African-American (my friend's not...lol).

I did TASP, but I can definitely say the Telluride programs are all great. I don't know a single person, TASPer or TASSer, who has complained about their Telluride experience, and a good number of people apply to live in Telluride houses at UMich and Cornell. Also, huge perk: the program is free! :D

I was an interviewer for TASS last year. In general, we were not looking for brilliant, mindblowing writing--that is something that is worked on during the program. We were looking for sincerity, inquisitiveness, ability to discuss ideas beyond a superficial level...basically, a passion for learning and thinking, and a willingness to think about other perspectives. We were looking for people who would be interesting to live and study with, and who we thought could really benefit from the programs.

Also, to Invoyable's question, I know that non-African American students do go to TASS, and can have a great time, as long as they do not make a big, awkward deal out of being non-African American. (this is just through word of mouth from TASSers I know.) The benefits to anyone: being in an environment where it's cool to be intellectual, working on writing craft, being on a university campus and having college-level discussions, getting to know 20 really smart, amazing kids.

yay TASS!

Is the acceptance rate as low as TASP's??
