I received an application for Telluride in the mail from UM. Is it different from other Residential Colleges? The application gives me the impression that it's pretty prestigious. Is anyone else applying? The free room and board would be very nice if I do get into Telluride and go to UM. Can one be in both Telluride and the Honors College?

I went to the Telluride Summer Program at UM last summer. The Telluride House (probably) is very different from other Residential Colleges. There are only 20-30 people in the house, so it is very small, and it is extremely well-funded by the Telluride Association. Everyone has to present an hour-long public speech to the other members of the house, participate in a community service project, and do other chores around the house. I like to call it "the bourgeois commune." From my experience as a TASPer, if this has any bearing on one's experience as an undergrad living in the Telluride House: it is well worth the five essays.
