@bluehatchet2 Priority registration for classes is the biggest perk. This basically means that you get to pick your classes before the rest of the student population so you get first pick of times and popular classes. You get guaranteed on-campus housing all four years in the Honors LLC, an extra honors advisor, and the chance to register for honors classes.
@bluehatchet2 my D1 is currently at Temple in the Honors program. I agree the priority registration and the honors advisors (with walk in policy) are really great perks. My senior D2 applied to the nursing and was accepted (no honors info but did get merit) she is leaning to going there even if not accepted into honors.
D1 has said that all of her none honors friends have been able to get into their classes anyway - but D1 REALLY likes getting her preferred schedule. the walk in honors advisors are great for when help is needed right then not next week …
Just got accepted!!
Stats:
SAT: Temple Option
GPA: W 97 (don’t have unweighted)
I got accepted into the nursing program but no aid cant decide between temple and drexel.
SAT: 1140
GPA:3.52
Got accepted yesterday, 1/9, into the pre pharmacy program.
3.2 UW GPA. Alot of Hs and AP classes tho.
1290 Superscore SAT.
I don’t see anything about Financial aid and Idk why.
My daughter was accepted this morning. Tyler School of Art, undeclared BFA. Her portfolio was actually accepted in November at portfolio day in NYC but she still had to apply and get accepted to Temple. No idea yet about aid or scholarship. Her portal just changed to ‘admitted’. Applied on November 28.
GPA: 3.728
ACT: 30
JerseyMom2022, my daughter also got into Tyler, undeclared BFA…with portfolio accepted in November! She got the Temple acceptance 2 days ago and the Honors and Decsision letters were in her portal today. So, I bet your daughter’s letter letter with scholarship info will be there very soon. Unfortunately, when we click on my DDs letters, they download and are gibberish. We can’t read them! Anyone else get gibberish?? (I guess Ill have to call the tech number tomorrow.)
Try a different browser
Got it! Needed to use a different browser just as jnkam24 advised. Thanks!
My application status was changed to on hold on 12/17, it says that I will be given a decision by the beginning of April but that seems like a long time to me. Does anyone have any idea how long i will probably be at this stage?
Has anyone tried to set up a Room Sync account to find a roommate because I did and my RMS code isn’t working.
Anyone that applied in November not hear back yet?
Hi! Can anyone tell me a little about the honors program, especially if they have experience in it or any family that has attended? I just got in yesterday, though I was admitted to Temple back in October. I’m not sure how their honors program compares with other in state programs such as Schreyers or Pitt and any info would be appreciated!
I got accepted sometime in November I believe, only got my scholarship late December/early January
3.91 W GPA
3.86 UW (I think)
1240 superscore SAT
27 ACT
All honors classes with a few APs (my school is small and does not offer many APs)
Sadly didn’t get accepted to the Honors program as I do not see anything about it on my portal
Only got $3,000 a year which was also a little disappointing since Temple is one of my top colleges
Anyone else not receive Honors or money and was a little sad?
My TUportal showed that I was accepted yesterday, and I got the official email today. The portal also has an invite for the Honors Reception, so does that mean I got into Honors?
@sunny2018 Hey there! I’m a current Temple freshman in the Honors program! One of the biggest perks of being an honors student is priority registration for your classes, which means that you to register for your classes before the rest of the university - this makes a HUGE difference when trying to create your schedule with preferred classes and professors. Another perk is the Honors classes themselves - they are usually capped at around 20 people, and in my experience, have been a lot more enjoyable and thought-provoking than regular classes. They provide a more in-depth learning experience with professors who are incredibly passionate and personable. In terms of the stats, the average GPA of last year’s admitted Honors students was 3.9 while the average SAT was 1450. Academics aside, I’ve also found that Temple Honors isn’t just ‘honors’ in name - its actually a very tight-knit community. We have a lounge where there are always students studying or socializing, and there are tons of honors student orgs like the Honors Activity Board, peer mentors, and Honors Appalachia (an honors service trip). As an honors student, you also have access to walk-in advising with the Honors advisers, who I have found to be much more knowledgeable and approachable than the regular advisers within my own college. Honors students also have a 4-year housing option in the Honors LLC, which is also pretty rad. If you have any specific questions, hit me up! Also, I would highly recommend signing up to attend the Honors Reception at Experience Temple Day!! I was on the fence last year until I attended - it made a huge difference in my perception of Temple as a whole.
I called admissions bc I applied rolling decision on 11/14 and haven’t received a decision yet- they said we would get decisions the week of march 2nd???
Yayy I just got in! How do I check my scholarships/aid if I got any?
@alizarin I couldn’t see the acceptance letter on a mobile phone but I could using Chrome on the laptop. She got a $5000 a year ‘Founder’s Scholarship’, which we are very pleased about. We’re not expecting any needs based financial aid but it would be lovely if she got a portfolio scholarship too. Any idea when we hear about that?
