SO I am wondering about if I can get enough financial aid to drop my costs below $20,000. Does TEMPLE give lots of financial aid, especially to students like me who are above the acerage academic ranks?
THANKS!

If you’re OOS, I wouldn’t count on much aid. OOS publics don’t really give institutional aid to OOS students.

What is the OOS COA for Temple?

What is your major (tuition is by major).

What is your EFC? How much will your parents pay each year? $20k?

Quick EFC

Temple does provide merit scholarships to both in state and out of state. The site does not give cut and dried stats, but does say that generally top 15% of their class and standardized test scores “well above average”. You don’t mention if you are instate or out of state, but there are also scholarships for graduates of Pennsylvania Governors schools of Excellence.

My out of state D had SAT scores higher than yours, but a slightly lower GPA and rec’d a scholarship that essentially brought her tuition down to instate.

It certainly couldn’t hurt to apply!

OP, you are looking for Financial Aid which is based on your academic stats. Financial Aid is based on need as determined by the school. Very different things.

edu…I’m a little confused. According to your profile here, you are a 32 year old. That being the case, you are an independent student for financial aid purposes. However, that isn’t always a “blessing”. Are you currently working? If so, your income from 2010 will be used to determine any need based aid that you might receive. I don’t believe that independent students have much (if any) income protection.

What have you been doing since you graduated from high school? The things you list above are nice, but if they are really 14 years old, they might not be as important as things you are currently doing.

What state do you currently reside in? If it’s not Pennsylvania, you might not find a large amount of merit aid available to you. As a public university, Temple probably offers need based aid that is federally funded and not much need based aid beyond that. So…you would need to run your “numbers” through an EFC calculator and see what you get. It will be an estimate of your contribution but it’s a starting point.

So…please clarify…are you 32, born in 1978?

I think the Gov Schools were a victim of last year’s budget cuts.
