My daughter is excited to have earned the Temple Presidential scholarship (OOS) with full-tuition and three $4000 stipends for summer enrichment. I am wondering if anyone is familiar with this program. Are there stipulations on what is approved for summer enrichment? Must a student accept the Honors College to get the enrichment funding? Is anyone familiar with the Honors LLC at 1300? The generous scholarship seems almost too good to be true, so I guess I want to know if there's a hitch! We will be visiting campus in March. Thank you!

I received a Presidential Scholarship as well, congrats to your daughter! Here are the prerequisites:

As far as your other questions, you’re not required to live in the Honors LLC to be in honors. Roughly 90% of this year’s freshman class lives in 1300. I don’t know about the accepting honors to receive the stipends.

How long does it take for them to give out scholarship awards and financial aids? I got the acceptance letter but there is nothing about awards and financial aids. My GPA is a 3.7 and SAT’s is 1680.

BringOn: Thanks. Yeah, I was just wondering besides study abroad, what other things would be acceptable under that grant. Then, I found out it is the first time they are offering the scholarship. Will you be attending Temple?

MrNice: I honestly dont remember for sure, but I think she got the scholarship with her offer. You may wish to call them.

I still have a few schools to hear back from but right now I’m leaning toward Temple because their program for my major is top 20 in the country and the full tuition scholarship is too good to pass up!

MrNiceFox, I’m not sure if all are done this way, but my son received his scholarship offer with his acceptance letter.

Hello! I’m applying to Temple! I was told by a Temple undergraduate admissions worker that they look at my weighted GPA for merit scholarships. Then I was also told that they use my weighted GPA, then recalculate on a 4.0 GPA scale but the Honors/AP classes will still receive weight.

I AM SO CONFUSED. My school does unweighted by 4.0 as weighted by 5.0.

To the people that got the president’s scholarship, what were your weighted and unweighted GPAs??!! Please respond!!

^ People will not post their GPAs because you asked, they have no reason to do that whatsoever.

http://admissions.temple.edu/sites/admissions/files/uploads/188_1213_scholarship_info_sheet_FINAL.pdf

You should assume your weighted GPA provided by your school should meet the requirements in the above link.

My sister is applying to Temple. I think the re-calculation of the weighted GPA is because they only consider academic classes (Math, English, Science, Social Studies and Foreign Language) when calculating your GPA for purposes of the merit scholarships
