Temple University Admissions Chance 2022

Temple University is my dream school but while everyone is getting in, I have not… I’m starting to worry. I applied for fall of 2018.
I’m a 17 yr old Puerto Rican female with a W GPA of 3.7958. My SAT is on the low side at a 1,110… I have taken all honors classes with 2 College prep classes and 4 AP classes with 2 college classes through a community college. My EC’s are good with sports, Spanish honor society, musical, class council, a leadership position, a 30 hour a week job and community service in PA, PR, and GA. I applied EA on 10/26 through Common App. What do you think my chances are?

What’s your major

Biology. 37 out of 180 in my class putting me at the top 20%

by no means am i an expert on temple admissions, but i was accepted two days ago when i only applied on 11/01, and thought i’d share my two cents, using my own stats and the stats of others who have been accepted so far.

do you know ur UW gpa? my UW was a 3.01 — pretty low for temple. yet, i also have taken pretty much all honors/ap classes, like you. my act was 28, which i also think made up for it. from what i have seen, temple looks for strength in test or gpa, and is willing to overlook, per say, a weakness in the other. that’s what i’ve noticed in other applicants who were admitted. however, ur sat still does seem pretty low…but i dont think its completely ruined ur chances. did you not consider choosing to submit ur application test-optional?

also, how was ur essay? ive done a lot of research on temple and they tend to have a leaning towards students who genuinely want to go there — and show it. if ur values align with theirs and u have expressed that somehow, that will up ur chances despite ur low test score. i think my essay is what got me in, because it definitely wasn’t my stats.

seeing as you seem to have been actively involved at ur high school, i wouldn’t give up hope if i were u! in fact, i think u might have a good chance. if u think it will be helpful, i can go into more depth about my stats  i really hope u get in!! wishing you luck

My UW was 3.3 and my essay was about how I personally overcame adversity and it was very well written and passionate my teachers said - it got a 8 on an AP English scale so I would say it is a strong essay. I should have thought about it more but most of my counselors told be submit regardless. Still haven’t heard back… But yes - please do!

bump

You will get in. When did you submit your application?

They received all of my application material 10/27

You should hear back within a month or so.

Im honestly worried. I applied to temple 10/27 and I still haven’t received a decision notice. I literally check the portal everyday for the past 2 weeks.
Here are my stats-

GPA 3.42 WGPA 4.0

Sat 1130 (I know, pretty low)

Amazing essay

Many EC’s

APs- sophomore: gov, junior year:world, psych, Lang, senior year: enviormental science, Spanish, Lit, Comp Gov

What are my chances of getting in? And when do you guys think I’ll get a response?

Ayyy I’m from pr too :stuck_out_tongue: you should get in soon because I just got my decision back today, good luck (:

Nursing major
Stats:
SAT 1200
Gpa 3.85
Rank 17/241
What are my chances?
Application has been complete since 9/25 and still haven’t heard back

CHANCE ME PLEASE IM PANICKING
disclaimer he reason my stats are so low is because I was diagnosed with clinical depression and major anxiety junior year and was out for getting mono for a while
3.467 gpa
Sat: 1230 (unsuper scored 1210)
Good essay
I go to one of the top 3% of the schools in the country in PA with over 2,000 students
Middle 50% of my class
Took only 1 honors course junior year and the rest Accel courses
Senior year: Taking 2 AP classes and core classes are Accel. I also got a 3.2 gpa on my first quarter of being a senior because I got a D+ in my AP Bio class

(Not many extracurricular activities)
Volunteer Big Brothers Big Sisters going on 3 years
GSA junior year
Volunteer Save the Cats going on 4 years
Work 2 jobs senior year and 1 job junior year

I applied 10/16 and they received everything 10/26. I did not tell admissions why my gpa dropped so far (from a 3.7 to 3.4) during my junior year. I am worried having depression killed my chances at this school.
Ik it’s not a great student profile but be honest, can I make it in this school?

I got accepted today, applied Nov 1st. Dont stress too much, and you don’t need to justify your low grades. My grades were ever lower and I had barely a better SAT (3.31, 1240). You have a good chance at Temple depending on your major. You don’t need to stress too much as admission isn’t that hard for this school. I stressed way more than I needed to, don’t do the same. Relax, take it easy as people with worse portfolios have gotten in (me)

I applied like end of september early october. Got waitlisted beginning of November, and found out my acceptance this past weekend! Applied for the nursing program, and I applied through Temple Option. After being waitlisted, didn’t think I was going to get accepted and not hear back till April and I wanted to have a decision by February. My GPA is a 3.97, and I am involved in tons of extracurriculars. My essays were pretty good for just typing them up and submitting them the same day. I am still in shock over my acceptance. Good luck!! Temple is one of the selective schools I applied to because of the nursing program, they only have like 150 spots, so I’m glad to have an option in regards to a being in a fantastic program.

I was rejected from temple on friday with

3.3 UW/ 3.4 W
28 ACT
Very good extracurriculars (Started my own club, president of my class, two sport athlete, board member of religious group, etc)

Honestly pretty surprised, temple was supposed to be a target

I also got accepted into the nursing program

Congrats! Do you mind sharing your stats? I was just recently waitlisted.
