A little confused about my Temple aid/acceptance, wondering if someone is in a similar situation. Accepted 12/23, letter had no mention of aid. Just got my ‘initial financial aid offer’ with no merit aid either. No mention of honors college anywhere, but that makes more sense to me as not everyone has been notified about that yet. I’m excited about getting in, but am somewhat confused about getting zero aid though having strong ECs and GPA… I had assumed from my other school decision results that I would receive some merit, though I know its never certain. Having a hard time finding information about whether I will receive any merit aid or not, or if this is it.
For context: I did have to go test optional, and I am OOS.
Did it include a merit offer? Mine briefly talked about Gift Aid but showed none.
My D21 had her merit offer included in her Admissions Decision Letter. It’s also included in the “View your current financial aid offer” showing as “Gift Aid”. Unfortunately, I think it would have been included in the original offer letter if you were going to receive it.
I’ll just add that it can’t hurt to contact admissions to ask about it. Good Luck!
My son’s merit was specified in his admission’s letter. I’m sure that the awards are completely dependent on school and major. Agree that it cannot hurt to ask the admissions office to clarify.
Anyone have interest or experience with the Living Learning Communities? We were just looking at the “Global” LLC
yes merit aid, but no gift aid for me
I believe merit aid is part of gift aid since you don’t have to pay back.
yes, i meant no money for need
TU Portal is very confusing, especially in the Student Financial Services Area.
Do we need to fill out FAFSA for merit aids even though we we are not qualified for Federal Grants.
Thanks
We were advised to fill out the Fafsa regardless of whether we would qualify for federal help or not.
Everyone is qualified for the $27,000 in federal loans over 4 years, $5,500 for freshmen.
Has anyone been able to schedule and admitted students tour? I managed to find the page for in-person tours on TU’s website, but then there is a note that these tours are designed for prospective students only, and for information about admitted student tours, click here (link to the TU portal) for upcoming information about opportunities. However, when we follow the link and sign onto his portal, there’s nothing about tours. Maybe I’m overlooking it or it’s not out yet? Thank you.
Waiting on Tyler’s portfolio scholarship. Hopefully my son gets something. OOS received very little merit. Anyone hear about portfolio scholarships yet?
There is a virtual event this weekend for admitted students. The student signs up via portal. I think it was listed in next steps.
Anyone else still waiting on acceptance letter and aid award? My daughter applied back in mid/late October (made the mistake of choosing regular decision, not early decision). Her app is confirmed in the TU portal that her app was received and complete as of Nov 1, and she still hasn’t heard back a decision. She’s called twice (including last week).
I have no doubt she’ll be accepted due to her stats, but very concerned that this delay will impact the possibility of merit aid. Very frustrating. I get that she applied regular decision but geez…
My son just heard through email today. No change in portal. I called and they said takes 24 hours to catch up. Good luck to you!
Thanks! That’s encouraging! Did they provide the financial aid award in the acceptance email?
My D is still waiting as well. She didn’t apply till early January so not surprised that we have not heard back yet.
No. Admissions said when the portal catches up there will be an acceptance letter and a possible award letter of merit. They said we would have to contact FA separately to see how far along they are in process.
