Temple University Class of 2026 Discussion Thread

Update: I didn’t get an email but my partner did (@ 10:45 pm) saying to check portal for scholarship info. Now need kid to wake up! Very exciting. She liked Temple more than Rutgers and U del. I have my concerns about the area but not the quality of the school.

My wife feels the same way about the area…and we lived in Fairmont in the late 80s when the area was much worse than it is now.

My son loves that school, though. Going to be a real battle down the stretch between Temple and a couple of other schools. About a month to go until all visits, admissions, and monies are finalized!

Update. Daughter and husband got scholarship email (9k/year - Yeay!) but the email went to my junk mail. So check junk mail!

My daughters honors acceptance and merit notification went to junk mail as well. Definitely worth checking!

Anyone heard from Nursing yet? Can’t believe we’re still waiting.

Has anyone not received merit information yet? My son was accepted into Fox in late Oct. No merit info yet. I have noticed the portal has changed to include a place for Award for 2021-2022 but all of the tabs are grey/not clickable except “general information” which is red but nothing comes up when I click it. I am assuming this means no merit at all since it seems everyone else has received some at this time? Anyone else still waiting?

Hight but not sky high stats, no test scores, and OOS. He has received very generous merit at other schools and was considering Temple only for athletics at it is the only school in our region with his sport. But it is falling lower on the list, and will drop completely if no merit. I wish they would leave a note indicating no merit instead of leaving us wondering. We will reach out if we don’t see anything in the next few weeks.

2021-2022 is the current school year. That tab has been on the portal the whole time, but it doesn’t apply to anybody not currently enrolled. I’m also thinking that it may apply to financial aid only (as opposed to merit awards), but not sure about that.

If you look at the main page of the portal, you will see a column in the middle labeled ‘Next Steps’ (this is how it looks on a laptop - I don’t know how the portal is laid out on a phone). Under ‘Next Steps’ is where you will find any merit award, honors college admission, etc. My son received a merit award about two weeks ago, and it’s at the top of that column.

We’re still awaiting a decision over here from an 8/3 in state application! Not that she’s likely to change from her 1st choice, but would be nice to know! Hopefully it is posted by 1/10!

@NSLMOM , we applied on 11/1, accepted on 12/14, still no mention of Merit on the portal. Hoping!

Thanks! Until a few weeks ago his Financial Tab on the Temple portal only had 2020-2021 school year so it definitely has updated/changed recently on his portal (I keep checking so I have noticed the change). But still no option to view anything for 2022-2023.

His Next Steps still only has the 3 original steps- view admission letter, make deposit to enroll/housing, view the Experience Temple website. Nothing about merit.

I am thinking he has not received any, but will keep checking. Thanks again!

Good Luck to you- I hope the merit is yet to come!

My daughter is still waiting on merit from Temple. She applied to Tyler for art by 11/1 (but didn’t do the self reported grades in the portal until mid-November–didn’t realize it was mandatory as we had her transcript sent). She received her acceptance on 12/18. No mention of honors or merit.

I do expect her to get something. She has a 4.0 UW GPA / 4.5 weighted with 7 APs and the rest honors. She did apply test optional though. I wonder if that will end up hurting her. It didn’t stop her from getting highest merit award at UMass Amherst.

Hello everyone.

When you go into the Temple Portal, up at the top you will see a greeting for your child. If your child has been accepted it will note three messages. If your child has received a merit offer it will note four messages. Below this greeting is a section called “Next Steps”. If your child has received a merit scholarship it will be at the top of “Next Steps”. It will say “You have been awarded a merit scholarship. Click here to view”. Open the PDF to see the award letter.

My son sent his application on 10/30, was admitted on 11/12, and received the merit scholarship email on 12/21. Hopefully that provides some time line help.

The “Costs and Aid” section is still not showing 2022-23 school year information, and I don’t expect it to for a while. Temple has not finalized their costs yet for that school year.

We just got an email today letting us know that our son had received merit scholarship. He applied 11/1, got his acceptance on Thanksgiving (!), and got the merit email today. Good luck to everyone!

D received her acceptance today, and has 4 sections, none of which say merit.

  1. acceptance letter
  2. housing
  3. experience Temple
  4. keep your family up to date

Did yours always have the merit section or that came later? Pretty certain D would receive merit

Congrats! My kid’s merit came right before Christmas, acceptance came in late October.

My son was accepted on 10/22 (approx), but didn’t receive merit until their first merit “drop” around 12/21. I doubt that it means anything that your daughter hasn’t received any merit as of yet. Fingers crossed!

Update: My son received a merit award letter from Temple a few days ago. He was accepted in late October and just received the merit notice. We were not expecting much as we are OOS and he is a solid student but not sky high GPA and no test scores. As expected, the merit was very minimal. We absolutely cannot afford nearly full pay OOS so it is likely off the list at this point. He has received some wonderful merit awards from other schools so will focus on those.

Best of luck to you and your son!
