Thanks for the info on Temple’s program. I’m going down tomorrow to the open house with my son and hope to see Peter Reynolds. I’m late finding out about their program but have requested an audition date. I’ve been looking at Purchase, SUNY, Fordham, Rutgers, NYU, Julliard, Pace.

Is it possible to enter the Temple MT program as a junior transfer?

I visited Temple’s open house a week ago and saw a production of “Sweet Charity” with my son. It was great. I loved the presentation by the faculty and students. The feel of the campus was great and the students conducting the tours were warm and friendly. The musical theatre program has great options for students that many of the conservatory programs lack. In fact, one of the parents came down from New York because their son didn’t like the rigidity of the Pace program. The director, Peter Reynolds, is awesome and takes a real interest in his students. The kids work in local theatre and earn equity credits. After the visit, Temple moved to the top of my list. We’ll continue to visit other schools since I believe that’s necessary to get a feel for the place but I’m hoping my son will decide Temple is his best fit. Here’s hoping he does so and that he makes it through the audition process.

I am very interested in applying to Temple for an MT concentration, but I can’t seem to find the area of the website where I can schedule an audition. Do I have to call or email someone to set one up? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

To RSVP, or for questions regarding the audition process and application status, please contact Peter Reynolds, Director of Musical Theater, Dept. of Theater, at peterr@temple.edu. Please include your first choice audition date and session (morning or afternoon). [Example: “Jan. 30/afternoon”]

Thank you! I had been confused because I remembered after I read your reply that I’d done just that. So, I sent another email, and it turns out they’re received mine but had never replied/confirmed. Now I’m all set.

I just wanted to let everyone know that, although our February 13th audition date has now filled, we still have openings for our January 30th audition date. There is NO audition fee for our program and you can audition without having yet applied to the university (although you cannot receive any official decision from our department until you are academically ACCEPTED to Temple). Best of luck!

I visited the SCT department at Temple a few weeks ago and I was very impressed. After sitting in on two of the information sessions on the departmental programs (which were very informative and helpful), I saw a matinee of The Conwell Project, which I highly enjoyed. The performance and technical aspects of the show were superb. Afterward, I got the chance to talk with one of the MT students who was extremely helpful in answering my questions. Temple is definitely at the top of my list for MT now, and I would highly recommend anyone considering the school to visit and see for themselves what a great theater department it has.

I just wanted to let everyone know that after this weekend (February 13th) we only have one more audition date (March 14th). Both dates are getting VERY full but we have a few spots left for those that are interested.

I also wanted to take this time to announce a few other exciting bits of news/information when it comes to Temple University Theatre Department…
The following link details MANY of the exciting successes of the students and faculty of Temple Theaters–from our production of the world premiere play “Shot!” taking home many accolades at our region’s American College Theater Festival–to one of our students recently being cast in the current production of “The Miracle Worker” on Broadway.

Does anyone know how many performance opportunities there are for musical theater each year? Any word on when information about acceptance in the MT program goes out?

Hello everyone!
I just wanted to make the very exciting announcement that we received word today from the Temple University Boyer College of Music and Dance that MT Concentration students are now eligible to pursue a MINOR in dance through the dance department (separate from the School of Communications and Theatre). We are so thrilled by this development!

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to let everyone know that Temple University’s Theater Department’s production of Sweeney Todd will be opening in a week! We have a preview on the 13th, and we run from the 15th through the 31st. It is going to be a great production, and it would benefit any prospective freshman to check it out! Ticket information can be found at [CURRENT THEATER SEASON : SCT : TEMPLE UNIVERSITY](http://www.temple.edu/sct/theater/currentseason/index.html)

I’m actually playing Johanna, and my fellow poster, RJ, is in the ensemble :)

Go see Sweeney!!! I’ve had the good fortune to meet this wonderful young lady and I hear the show is AMAZING!!! RJ is sooooo helpful if you have ANY questions about the program!!

I will be seeing Sweeney next Friday and can’t wait!! My D is a freshman in Temple’s MT program. She loves it so far and has been lucky enough to be cast in 2 projects already this semester. D really feels comfortable there and is thrilled with the mentoring the head of MT, Peter Reynolds, gives to the students.

Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd!!

We are looking forward to seeing this production!

heyy! I’m auditioning for Temple on Feb 5, any advice? =)

My son is auditioning on the fifth as well (morning). Waiting to hear back from the school as to whether they want 16 bar or 32 bars for the songs.

oh im morning too! =) isn’t that information on the website?

There was conflicting information. We received an email saying 16 bar cut and I don’t think that the website actually specified but will check again. Are you from PA?

yepp im from PA, hbu?
