Temple University Nursing

I am a junior graduating in 2011. I want to go to Temple University for nursing. I see they are changing their program to be a four year one so it will probably more competitive. Right now on a 4.25 scale i have a 3.82. On a 4.0 scale that is about a 3.6. I am wondering if this sounds good enough to get in?

You should most likely be fine depending on your SATs.

Why Temple for Nursing?

Because we have a good nursing program?

LoL
C’mon, seriously why?

What exactly are you insinuating here?

Not insinuating anything. There are better Nursing programs than the one at Temple. I asked the OP why she chose Temple. I may be able to suggest some better alternatives.

Is it necessary for everybody that posts on this forum to have their posts approved by a Temple student?

Yes, because I said so. Also, who said the OP is only looking at Temple? Did you consider that possibly the OP thinks Temple is a better fit than ‘better nursing programs’?

I’ll wait for the OP to post before I consider any possibility.

Lets let someone else decide if all posts on this forum need to be approved by you because you “say so”.

Of course this happens AFTER I decide not to go to Temple because their program wasn’t a direct entry one…

Anyway, your grades should definitely be good enough, even if it gets more competitive! I was accepted as a pre-nursing student for this semester, and I had a GPA of 2.97uw (3.75w) and an ACT score of 23.

Its taken me a while to post again in this thread. What I am looking for in a nursing school is a medium to large school in an urban area. I was considering Temple since I like Philadelphia. Does anyone else have other suggestions fitting the requirments?

Depends on whether money is an issue and how far from home you are willing to go. The two best (IMHO) direct entry programs in PA are the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh. Both big city programs that meet criteria, Your GPA / grades are good enough for Pitt, but UP might be a reach.

Let me know if you’d like some suggestions for other states.

UPenn is one of the top 3 nursing programs in the country on a consistent basis! Just saying. Pitt also has an awesome program though. But Penn is my dream school to go to for my MSN.

“UPenn is one of the top 3 nursing programs in the country on a consistent basis!”

And the only Ivy League school with a nursing program. However, very difficult to get into.

^ Incorrect. Penn is the only Ivy League school with an undergraduate nursing program. Yale has a graduate nursing program, as does Columbia.

^ Correct. However I did think we were discussing undergraduate nursing programs.

^ We were, but I wanted to make sure the OP wasn’t misinformed. I know that last year when I was looking at colleges, I looked at both graduate AND undergraduate programs to get an idea of both because I’m planning on a MSN.

Does anyone know anything about Drexel’s Nursing program?

Drexel has a very good program, but it isn’t worth the money, especially since they have the right to withold your diploma if you don’t pass a standardized test.
