I'm trying to transfer from Bloomsburg U to Temple and I was wondering if I had a chance of getting in. I'm a freshman with a 2.5 GPA. I've gotten all B's except for one D which really pulled my grade down. I have 18 credits and my high school GPA was 3.5 with a 1350 on the SAT. My major is Computer Science.

Don’t worry about it. 2.5 is an excellent GPA and one D does not mean that you are not a good student.

Thanks, I hope you’re right I’m trying really hard to bring my gpa back up this semester but they won’t be looking at this semesters grades anyway…

I was accepted to Temple today as a transfer. When I visted Temple last year, one of the admissions counselors told me that they look for a 3.0 or higher. At the time my GPA was a 2.41 and she told me to bring it up. When I applied I had a 3.08 gpa. Am not saying you won’t get in but I just thought I would share.

Here is a quote from their website about it:
“Our average GPA for transfer admission is 3.00 – Architecture, Nursing, Pharmacy and Film and Media Arts have higher GPA requirements.”

Bumping for more input

I actually have another question about applying. I just recently applied and now I have to send my transcripts. I was wondering if I had enough time to finish out this semester and then send my transcripts. It would give me a chance to pull up my GPA and give me a better shot. The semester ends on May 7th so they would probably send it out sometime that week.

Also one more question, are transfers not guaranteed housing?

It’s up to you, the deadline to submit everything is June 1. Keep in mind that even though the deadline is June 1 there may or may not have seats for your major.

True, Temple does not gurantee housing for transfers. When I went to the info session last year the tour guide told us that on campus housing is reserved for freshman. Off campus housing is walking distance from the school though.

Thank you for answering, the info is helpful…Temple seems to take their time getting back to you in email. Is there safe off campus housing? I hear the surrounding area is kinda of a bad neighborhood.

You’re welcome. I think at this time they are very busy with applications.

As far as housing, there are two places that I viewed when I went to visit, this one place called “The Edge” which was very clean, new and has a great view. Heres the link:[The Edge at Avenue North - Philadelphia, PA](http://www.campushousing.com/theedge/html/index.php)

The other place I viewed was called Oxford Village which is right across the street. It’s not as nice as The Edge and the apartments look old. Here’s the link:[Oxford Village in Philadelphia, PA * Ambling Student Living](http://www.oxfordvillageapts.com/Tour.aspx)

Their both about 2 blocks from the main campus.

Okay just one more question, so would it be better for me to wait to send my transcripts in may or would I have a better chance of transferring just sending them now?

Like I mentioned I can’t make that decision for you. If you want to send them in now you can but if you want to wait till the end of the semester you can also. The only issue is an available seat.

Even though Temple is busy, I think you should shoot admissions an email. They should be able to give you a straight forward answer.

Just curious why you want to transfer from Bloomsburg to Temple. My daughter was just accepted to both schools and undecided at this point but these are the 2 schools she has narrowed it down to. And good luck getting in at Temple
