temple university?

back to financial aid at temple... it says (from princetonreview.com)

Out-State Tuition: $16,736
Room & board: $7,794
Average book and supply expenses: $800
Required fees: $500

Aid Statistics
Freshmen receiving need-based financial aid: 72%
Undergraduate receiving need-based financial aid: 71%
Average freshman loan: $2,778
Average freshman total need-based gift aid: $5,312

So that comes out to about $26000 total for an OOS student... and then after the financial aid it's about $21000... and the rest i have to cover in loans... am i missing something? is temples financial aid much better than this? cuz my parents only make 20K a year and we really can't afford to spend that much on college maybe 2-3K

I have a few friends from Boston that go there, like I said before. Their financial aid packages were fair (they are low-mid income) although it included mostly loans. This didn't impede them from going and they never complain about it being too expensive so I say go for it.

Depends how well you do. Are you over-qualified? I know that theyve given people VERY good aid. If you're qualified for Honors then i'm sure theyll work with you.

well... what exactly what is honors quality... here are some basic stats of mine...

GPA: ~3.8-3.9 W
Fresh: 4.07
Soph: 3.79 (slacked that year and it brings my whole average down)
Junior: 4.00

I am likely top 10% not sure though i need to check...

SAT: 2000 (730 Reading, 650 Math, 620 Writing)

yup those are my basic academic stats... would i get a lot of financial aid?

You'll get pretty close to a full scholarship and entrance to the honors school.

EDIT: You'll probably make money by going to temple. They'd love to have someone with such great stats. You'd bring up the averages a good bit.

are you being serious cuz if i get a full ride to temple that's dope... i'd go to any school that gives me full scholarship even if i had never heard of it lol but to know that i might get in to temple with full scholarship is awesome cuz my boy bill cosby graduated from there and it's in a great city.

wait a second... you know the deans... if i gave you my name would you able to hook me up at temple with financial aid by throwing my name in or something? lol

Do you know anything about the school or was that a general comment?

If you get in the honors program, you’ll get a lot of money. Temple, however, doesn’t usually give out full rides, even with a mix of merit and need aid.

i know some stuff about the school like it has a lot of diversity, it's in a big city, it's got a nice basketball team, good academics, offer actuarial science (which i might do... maybe) and not much beyond that... but what were general comments? lol

anyways if i got into temple and could afford it relatively easy i would go... just worried that i wouldn't be able to afford it ya know?

They have a great actuarial sci program. The program im doing gives you the choice of either marketing or actsci. Ive heard great things from my friends in it.

I dont go to Temple or anything, but my bro goes to Temple every week for cello, and hes always okay

good to hear.
