My D is auditioning for MT concentration @ Temple this Sat & we received an acceptance packet in the mail, it says accepted to the theater program! So...she can be a theatre student w/out an audition, is just auditioning for the MT concentration? If she wasn't accepted for the MT could she still go there for just theatre?

Would love to hear from anyone that has had any experience w/this, probably gonna call the college this week.
Thanks!

I have a friend who is currently at Temple for a BA in theatre and it is a nonaudition program. The MT program is auditioned though so theatre could be a good safety option.

My daughter was also accepted for straight theatre at Temple and will be auditioning for MT at the end of the month… Please post your audition experience when you’re done! Thanks!!

My friend really likes the program! Her roommate is a techie…through a random pairing too, and they go to see shows in Philly all the time and love the atmosphere of being in a city. Her first semester she did say she wishes she could have been involved in a production as she loves being constantly busy, but they cast the semester before so it wasn’t possible. I believe this semester she has plans to tech a show and maybe act in something else. I haven’t talked to her since winter break so I’m not entirely sure on what ended up happening.

She wanted a non audition program as her biggest thing because she wants to be a theatre teacher and eventually own her own community theatre program. She is mainly an MT actor, but for college she wanted a straight theatre degree.

Thanks, FutureMillie!
My daughter has been wanting to connect with a current Temple theatre student- do you think your friend would be willing to correspond with her? I would PM you, but I don’t have enough CC posts to do that yet…

I asked my friend and she hasn’t responded to me yet, but in the mean time I would recommend you or your D join The Unified Facebook group and make a post asking if there are any current students who go there she can talk to. There is usually someone there most schools.

i’d touch base with the dept too if you want any additional contacts. the professors are open to e-mails and may be able to get your kid in touch with current students
