So after a really long wait, us firsties finally got our housing assignments. I'm really disappointed to see that I was assigned to a "temporary" room in Scales House. From what I'm reading on previous CC threads, I'll be asked to move out only 3-4 weeks after moving in, which sounds like I'll be unpacking/trying to make friends in a house I won't even be staying in. I was hoping to find good house community, and I'm afraid that this will put me at a major disadvantage, since it sounds like I'll be moving into a new house after all the HONS orientation meetings and whatnot.
Does anyone have any experience with temp housing that could clear up the procedure or share their experiences? Would it be possible for me to stay in Scales after the temp period? Thanks much!!

Some kids end up staying in the “temporary housing” all year, so don’t despair just yet.

My mom spoke to an intern in housing this morning, and while she wasn’t able to answer much, she did say I could stay there for the year if I so chose. So I guess that’s good in terms of continuity, but I hope the room isn’t totally crappy. Bossf51, was your daughter/any of her friends in temp housing? What kind of things have you heard about it?

The rooms in Scales are nice. I have heard about this kind of thing from other people. Tell your Mom she might want to join the Smith parents FB page. These kinds of things are discussed in detail.
