Temporary Triples

Didn't UMW say they weren't putting freshmen in temporary triples this year? My S is in a temporary triple in Jefferson, but they only gave him the name of one roommate. How long does it normally take before the third person is moved out?

It was my understanding that freshmen would not be tripled. If he has only received the name of one roommate I would doubt there will be another. The room may be a designated temporary triple w/o a third person?

As far as how long? Many stay all year.

I contacted them and asked why my S was being billed for a double when he was assigned to a triple. Turns out it was a triple last year and they forgot to change the coding on the room to double for this year.

They also didn’t credit his account for his scholastic excellence award because he had unsatisfied student requirements for financial aid. The unsatisfied requirement was the On-Line Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling, which he didn’t do because we turned down the loan!

When I asked why he had to do the entrance counseling, the response was “We did update your loan status to “D” = declined and your entrance loan counseling on our requirement screen indicates “L” = loan declined or canceled. Since, we do not have access to your eaglelink student portal not sure what you are viewing.” The unsatisfied requirement was still there, so I sent them some screen prints from EagleLink and they finally fixed the problem.

Not terribly impressed so far…

They have never impressed me either. “Customer service” is not a concept that is widely understood. I have found that communication to the parents is not all is should be. Questions are not always answered in a timely or friendly manner. D wants to go back but I’ve tried to make it clear that transferring would be fine with me.

I’ve already planned to send a letter after graduation stating my desire to never ever receive any mail from them. I am paying for the education and once D graduates I do not plan to ever give them one thin dime.

They’ve already started hitting me up for donations. Um, my donation is called tuition…

I don’t want to tick anyone off until D is safely graduated. I throw those requests in the recycling without even opening them. I think it’s pretty darn nervy to ask for money when they know you are paying tuition. Or maybe that’s why my questions take so long to answer?
