Tennis at Princeton

I will be a freshman this fall at Princeton. I've just begun playing tennis and I hope to continue at Princeton.

How available are the tennis courts? Easy for beginners to access? Are they indoor courts? Could I take lessons at Princeton?

And, most importantly, would anyone like to play with me in the fall?

I'm not very good, but I love it! Mostly because I hardly ever spend time with my dad and that's the only time I get to, haha. I'll def. play with you in the fall! ....as long as you don't make fun of my nonexistant talents! :P

!!!I'm definately in! i just started playing tennis too and i'm lovin' it! yea cn some1 please answer wheelock's questions as im curious too.

c u on campus!

There needs to be the Princeton amateur tennis club :)

I wanna play tooo

Look for the Lenz tennis centre on the interactive map. It's rather far down campus, which is probably why I never got around to playing tennis, but it's supposed to be open without reservations whenever the varsity team isn't playing.

There are a ton of courts (including clay) that are accessible to students. Additionally, there are courts in Jadwin that are available upon reservation. You can play varsity, club, intramural, or recreational tennis while on campus.

Kjoodles, the first thing I'll do when I get to Princeton will be founding the Princeton Amateur Tennis Club. Good idea!

I love tennis man! We should hang out and play some matches. I used to play on the varsity team at my school, and now I like to play just for fun when I can. Unfortunately there are no courts close to me where I live, so I am a bit deprived :-(. If u want to IM me my SN is tommygunsablazin.

tokyo

P.S. Oooh Wheelock, that tennis club sounds fab. Make a facebook group or something, please!

I think Wheelock--which I think is the coolest name in the world by the way--had in mind finding other beginners to play tennis with. If you played varsity, you're too advanced.

You might have to volunteer to give free lessons if you want to be a part of the Princeton Amateur Tennis Club.

Well, even though I played varsity in HS, I'm still very far from good enough to play varsity at Pton, by the viking gods! I would rather just play an easy couple of volleys with some friends. Im not a professional, so thus I am an amateur. Amateur certainly does not mean novice.

This thread was started by someone who picked up a tennis racket this summer, for the first time, who is looking for others similarly situated to play with.

What part of that tripped you up?

Ok ok, I get the point JoeBob. Jeez talk about being exclusive. Thats not the kind of attitude I got at Pton when I visited. I just said I thought a facebook group would be cool.

Don't worry tokyo...i played on my highschool varsity team too, and am nowhere near good enough to play at pton...so we can play...in our OWN tennis club...The Princeton Amateur But Not Novice Tennis Club...i'll take suggestions on the name...

okay guys- DD is not a CC member..but I still love her dearly
she fits into the played -Varsity crew and I would be thrilled for her to continue with a group that just play for the love of the game.
She's good enough to walk on for field hockey (goalie) but, wants to hold off during transition. She plans to play club f/h.
she certainly will join you on f/book group.

Chip- dont sell your self short- hhhhhhhhhhhh

I'm not very good either...but I'll DEF play

I'm willing to play, I've taken 3 years of private lessons and was on my school's tennis team. Uh, how are we supposed to reach each other if all we know are our screenames?

I've just created a FaceBook group called The Princeton Amateur Tennis Club. Feel free to join.

I used to be okay at tennis but I stopped junior year of high school. I wanna play again! :D

Only been playing as a hobby, but i really do want to play. I shall join the facebook group.
