I’m going to be a junior next year and I’m wondering whether I should play volleyball or tennis next fall season. i played tennis this year, but I didn’t have much experience so I was more of a backup. oh we only have varsity so I’m technically varsity either way. I’m taking lesson continuously so I think I’d be better by next season. For volleyball, I don’t really have any experience but I’m pretty sure I’m bad. If I do make it (both teams accepted all players this season I believe), then I’d probably be on JV. Honestly that doesn’t bother me much, but would colleges like to see me stick with tennis for three years, technically varsity, or volleyball for two years, one JV, possibly varsity for the next? I like tennis but volleyball is much “cooler” and seems like a fun team sport. Volleyball also has daily practices while tennis has two or three a week (both a pro and a con). My school doesn’t have much hype over any sport honestly, but volleyball just seems fun. I can always try out for both next year, but it’d be easier to stick to one and go with it.
If you don’t like playing a sport, there is no point to keep playing. However, if you enjoy tennis, I would stick with that since continuity is good. Given that you have been practicing, you should eventually move to the starting lineup. I was the same way- my freshman year I occasionally played fourth doubles for JV and I practiced and played second singles sophomore year.
