I am an incoming first year planning to play club tennis. Dos anyone know where I can find racquet stringing walking distance from grounds?

The club Tennis team is legit at UVA…just say’n.

Like how good are they? If I played varsity in high school (at a pretty decent school for tennis), would I have a shot at making the team?

FYI- I don’t know if you also like squash. A rich alum donated $12 million for new squash courts at the Boar’s Head Inn, which is owned by the U.

I knew club players who had varsity offers at other schools D1 (mid-majors) but chose UVA for academics or were state level competitors in high school in competitive states (California). Also, not only do you have highly skilled at tennis, you need to fit in with the people currently on the club team. They do the picking so =/

Do you know if all the players on the team were that good, or would they take a lot of people on the team with those players competing at the big tourneys?

That I can’t confirm. I only knew two people on the club tennis team, both of which graduated with me this past year. From my understanding the tennis team, like all other UVA club sports, is pretty selective during the try out phase. The only club teams that pick up a ton of people are Cross Country (runners aren’t too exclusive) , Crew (looking to get people hooked), Triathalon (again, endurance athletes don’t exclude) and Ultimate (have a competitive A-team and less competitive B-team). Just go and try your best and don’t be discouraged if you don’t make it your first year. There are always other things to do.

UVa’s Club Men’s Rugby Team will be recruiting. They had many of their players graduate. You don’t need to know how to play - they will teach you. My son started playing Rugby because it was impossible to get on UVa’s Club Lacrosse Team. They mainly play against major universities in Va, Md and NC.

So, any advice on racquet stringing?

I think TJs locker does it (it says so on their website)

I can’t find any reference to stringing on their website. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of this?
