Tepper (CMU) vs Ross (UMich) vs Dyson (Cornell)

Please guide. Got accepted at CMU Information Systems and Tepper, Ross School of Business and Dyson, Cornell. How do these schools match up against each other for opportunities and financial aid?

What do you want to do?

Major?
Career?

3 choices:

Finance major - investment banking career
Information systems with a quantitative focus (mathematics, economics) - tech consulting
Global business - corporate management

BTW, this is for undergraduate… plan to go for Masters later.

All three colleges will give you good opportunities so you should really visit them all to see which one fits your personality. Each of these schools has its own culture and you should consider that when making your final decision.

From a purely recruiting-oriented standpoint however, Dyson is probably the best for IB and consulting out of your three options. Tepper is pretty good for quantitative roles (like derivatives trading and HFT), but doesn’t place as well as Ross or Dyson for the positions that interest you. Ross is an excellent business school, but there are a LOT of undergrad BBA’s there so competition for internships is extremely tough. Imo, Dyson is the best choice because its a small program with a lot of prestige.

Btw, you shouldn’t do a Masters in Business if you’re already studying business as an undergrad. As an MBA student, you’ll learn from (virtually) the same curriculum that undergrad business students learn from. There’s no real point of obtaining an MBA unless you’re trying to change your career.

I’d agree with Cornell.

Mich Ross is a business powerhouse, and if you look at its career report, it’s excellent:

[Employment Data - Stephen M. Ross School of Business](http://www.bus.umich.edu/EmploymentData/TopHiringCompanies.htm)

Additionally, many consulting firms such as McKinsey regard Michigan Ross as a core school, along with schools such as Wharton, Harvard etc.

Whilst Cornell is an ivy league, I think at this stage, you should choose the college based on fit and interest, because all options are excellent and will give you plenty of opportunities.
