Tepper ED?

I'm trying to pick a reach school to apply ED but I don't want to waste it on a school that I have no chance at.

Stats: 3.6 uw 3.89 w
Ap Ushist 4 AP Euro 4 AP Lang 3
Sat 640 M 690 V 670 W 8 essay taking again
ACT 31 (I took it again and got a 30 but if you mix and match it's a 32)
Taking AP Calc, AP Econ, AP Spanish, AP Bio this year
SAT IIs - Math IIc 700 UShist 730

Piano - Guild superior or superior plus 6 years, 2 social diplomas
President service club junior year
band, etc.
doing senior year in England

I know math isn't my forte but I want to do something like Marketing.

I'm also thinking about Cornell ILR and Wash U ED.

What do you think would be good matches?

Amazon, my advice would be to apply early to whatever school YOU personally like best. I would encourage you to visit the colleges you listed and get a feel for them. I feel all three schools you mentioned are similar in terms of selectivity, so that should not be the deciding factor in which one to apply early to. As far as your chances at Tepper goes, your math SAT will hurt a lot. The 25-75% range for math SAT is 710-780. If you can increase that over 700, then you'd have a fairly good shot. Right now, I'd say your chances are about 10-15%.

Best of luck in the college process and feel free to ask any more questions you might have.

Ok, I take back what I said about all three being the same in terms of selectivity. They are close, but I definitely think Cornell would be slightly easier than the other two. They admitted 27% of their applicants last year compared to 19% for Tepper and Wash U plus their middle 50% range on the SATs was slightly lower than the other two.

Here's what I'd say your chances would be at each school.

Tepper (15/85)
Wash U (15/85)
Cornell (20/80)

Hope that helps.

I would recommend ED for Tepper if you care about getting in because CMU still likes ED applicants more than RD ones. I heard rumors that it was as much as 20-50% easier to get in ED though this was a few years ago when it was a bit easier.

It is definitely a personal choice but from the business aspect I'd choose Tepper just because of its amazing job prospects and how it is now seen up with the likes of Wharton (Newsweek quote) and Stern (actual student surveys). CMU actually sends out surveys for kids who come and why they did and what schools they chose it over and we had a lot of kids that reject Stern now. I had to make the same decision a while ago between Cornell, UVA (my state flagship) Tepper, and Stern and well you know how I turned out. Look at the facts and at your personal needs and you won't have any regrets :)

Those are my ED chances? Pretty depressing. How about Stern? Or if I go down a tier George Washington?

I think they are good match schools though I wouldn't really classify George Washington as a safety. It's not that much below NYU in terms of selectivity.
