TEPPER- is it that MATH-oriented?

Hi, I am a senior who seriously considers TEPPER B-School for upcoming ED.

I have some questions about TEPPER and I wish someone could anwser me :)

Is Tepper that math-oriented?
I heard many times that TEPPER is renowned in areas like quantitative analysis, quantitative finance, etc.
And as I research more on TEPPER, it seems that its strong parts are only focused on these math-oriented, or finance fields.
The things is, I am not so interested in Finance major or working at IB Bankings as a Finance manager. I might take some classes just to learn and experience the BASICS of it, but I am mostly interested in majoring at Management, Marketing, Enterpreneurship, etc.. and working at Consulting companies like Deloitte or Mckinsey.
So, question, for students like me, does Tepper provide less quality programs?
Hope not it is centered on quantitative parts...

One short question, is Tepper that not sociable?
Many ppl evaluate it to be the least sociable and the most geeky among B-schools.
Yeah, I might endure that disadvantage regarding its nice program,
but is Tepper that not socialbe?

Tepper is definitely sociable and frankly even in “geeky” schools like SCS I’d say 25% of the students at least are “cool.” Then another 50% are normal and only the bottom 25% are slightly on the weird and nerdy side. Tepper has better figures.

That being said, Tepper is definitely famous for it’s math/tech disciplines, so if you’re not interested in Finance and/or Information Systems, I wouldn’t apply in a binding way like Early Decision.

My career goal is to work at Consulting firms after completing undergrad. Tepper degree,
and develop my own business after some years of experience.

Would Tepper be not suitable for students planning their own enterprises afterwards,
not those interested in analytical management/quantitative finance?

Thanks for your response, but your last word kinda disappoints me a lot cuz I really like to study at TEPPER.

“Thanks for your response, but your last word kinda disappoints me a lot cuz I really like to study at TEPPER.” Uhm, out of curiosity, why? Can you explain to me what attracts you to Tepperand not other schools? It seem you dislike its strongest point…

Tepper students do go on to become consultants but realize there is a fair amount of quantitative analysis involved in consulting as well.

It sounds like you’re really interested in an undergrad general management degree. CMU as was noted above is an analytical program. The fit simply may not be there.
Other highly ranked business programs to consider for a more general management degree might be Michigan, Wharton (not the finance program which is what they are known for), NYU. Cornell has a degree program as well which is more management in nature. Bentley and Boston U are also not as highly ranked- but offer great undergrad degrees and in a large city, many consulting internships and co-ops.

Not to discourage you - but from what you are writing don’t think CMU is the right degree program for your interests.
