I am having a great rant over ranking my stupid choices, pls lend some advice!

I know tepper is one of the best schools at CMU and top 3 in the nation, I really wanna study marketing there but since they'll probablu reject me... should I also go for the huimanities? it's by far the easaiest to get into and I can major in economics if I decide to go. But is it worth it?
I'm also afraid that if I rank CH&SS second the adcoms will automatically reject me from Tepper and place me there. Why give me admission at the more selective college if I've indicated I can settle with less? so should I leave tepper as my sole first choice?

when you give a rank, do they give you the option of choosing if you get into both? or does ur app first go to ur top rank and then to your second rank?

If you get into both, you get to choose which one you want; I chose between CIT and SCS and I have a friend that did the same. Some people claim that if you put two choices, you may not get into one/either, but I haven't seen anything remotely related to proof of that.

If you want to be in Tepper, apply to Tepper. If you apply to H&SS instead, you probably won't be happy, and that's what really matters. I heard something about economics being offically moved to Tepper, anyways, but I'm not sure about that.

If you're really worried about the games that can be played with first choice/second choice, call the admissions office and see if you can get a straight answer. I think what matters more is that your essay about why you want to be in Tepper (or H&SS) is good.

tepper isnt one of the top 3 undergrad biz schools in the nation, and its marketing isnt ranked well. i would say if ur interested in marketing you would be better off at stern.
