Tepper vs Stern

Hey guys... I need your opinion. I just got into Stern and Tepper (majoring in business) but I'm really at a loss as to which one I want to go to. I was hoping someone could give me a bit of an insight to the pros and cons of each school/location. Here are my thoughts so far:

Stern:
Pro
-Stern rated higher in business
-Great location in NYC
-Study abroad opportunities
-Accepted into Stern Scholars
-Very diverse
-closer to home
Con
-Very large school, might not be a "close knit" college community
-Very expensive: 50k, no scholarships
-large city = more distractions
-guy:girl ratio 60:40 (unfavorable since i'm a girl)

Tepper:
Pro
-CMU rated higher overall
-easier to study other subjects if i choose not to do business
-Guy:girl ratio
-cheaper
-more of a "college feel"
Con
-far from home
-pittsburgh not as nice a city as NYC
-less career opportunities after college?

I would love any inputs! thanks!!

go visit nyu, its completely different than most college campuses. in fact, it doesnt even have one really. idk i guess some ppl could prefer that but i'd def visit because its just say different. and 60-40 guy-girl ratio? i'd think that's more unfavorable to guys and favorable to girls ;)

haha, NYU doesn't have a campus, they occupy lower manhattan and lower brooklyn. anyways, back to the question at hand. its your personal feelings about each school. both tepper and stern are great places to attend. if you are set on majoring in business, i'd say attend NYU, but if you are relatively unsure about business i'd rather attend CMU. besides, the undergrad college you attend does not really matter. all that matters is the grad school you go to, unless you plan on getting a job right after undergrad, which is going to be extremely tough.

oops i meant 40:60 guy girl ratio for nyu. IT's the complete opposite of CMU.

I have visited NYU before, and i'm not too thrilled by the lack of campus, but im not extremely bothered by it either. However I do enjoy the city a lot...

Does anyone know when financial aid packages are going to be sent out from CMU?

I honestly think that sex ratio should only be considered to measure diversity, not for students' personal life.

I don't know if this helps, but I heard Tepper is extremely math oriented

Simple_minded:

I'm in the same boat with you. Female accepted to both CMU Tepper and NYU Stern. I haven't seen the aid package for CMU yet. The aid package at NYU is disappointing. I don't know how well CMU's will be either as I was an RD acceptance. I got really good packages at Emory and Geo Washington. I'll be making some last school visits to help decide.

I love NYC, but I've heard Stern is rather cut-throat. They'll be some tough decisions to make.

thanks guys. Just got my financial aid from CMU today. Less than 5K in grants, better than the all loans package im getting from NYU, but I dont think its gonna sway me enough to go. Just the extra cost of transportation to and from pittsburgh each year is gonna be a lot.

BTW I just visited Stern again this weekend for their Sunday at the Square reception, and they really sold me on attending. Both times I visited NYU I absolutely loved the city. So I guess i'll be going there this coming fall. =)

I'm female that has been accepted to Tepper and I am a Stern Scholar. I'm going to Stern because NYU and New York is just not like any other experience.
