Tepper Waitlisted

I was recently wait-listed at Tepper and I just wanted to know what I could do to increase my chances of being accepted. What percent of the wait-listed on Tepper are actually offered a spot?

What can I do to increase my chance of admission? Do I write them telling them I would definitely attend if offered admission? Would an extra letter of recommendation also help increase my chances?

Thanks a lot
Jason

EDIT: Also I ranked 5 schools I would like to attend on the Common App but I didn't write essays about them so I was not seriously considered for them. On the "Where am I?" webpage it says Not admitted for the ones I applied to on the common app but did not write essays for. Will Carnegie allow me to go on Tepper's priority wait list or is this considered applying to another college?

Bump:

Also according to this link: [Admission > Admission Statistics](<a href=“Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University”>Home - Computing Services - Office of the CIO - Carnegie Mellon University)

Tepper accepts 465 students and only 83 students enroll. Does this mean that it’s not that hard to get off the Tepper wait list or does CMU anticipate a certain yield %.

All colleges anticipate a certain yield. I’m not sure about Tepper specific waitlist statistics, but in general, CMU last year admitted about 15% of the students they waitlisted.

As for your question about if you are priority or not, you probably are not considered priority. Though your application was incomplete, it seems like they gave you consideration anyways.

I have a question- if I choose to be on the “Priority Waiting List,” does this mean that I am legally bound to enroll if accepted? And, if so, would I be allowed to see what my fin aid package would be if I were to be accepted? Seems unfair to have the applicant pay the $800 enrollment deposit without knowing if CMU was affordable.

Thanks,
Golfdude.

Anyone know Tepper wailist chances?

Hi,

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to point out that the statistic above about 15% accepted off the waitlist last year is very incorrect. No student at CMU got off of either waitlist last year for any school. I’d say your chances are pretty slim, almost zero if you’re not on priority based on last year.
