I have a 3.81 UW GPA, 3 B’s freshman year, 0 B’s sophomore year, and 3 B’s so far (1st semester of junior year). Can I still get into decent colleges such as Purdue, UIUC, UC’s, UMich?
extracurriculars? tell more about yourself before you can get a definite answer.
Nowhere near enough info here to say.
Course rigor & weighted GPA? SAT/ACT scores? EC’s? Major you’re applying to? Which subjects were the B’s in?
The UC weighted/capped GPA won’t include your freshman grades, just 10th and 11th.
A strong showing this spring will, of course, help a lot.
Thx for the responses; sorry I should’ve included this info the first time:
Courses rigor: Most advanced courses for every subject except for APUSH
Courses I got B’s in: Alg 2/trig, bio, lit, calc bc, AP physics 1, ap lang
(kinda bad that i got B’s in mostly STEM courses…)
AP’s: 5 on AP Chinese | Taking: Calc BC, Physics 1, lang, Psych, music theory
AP’s senior yr (idk if this will help but…): AP Physics C, AP Gov, AP Econ, AP Stats, AP Lit (maybe?!)
SAT: 1460/1600; gonna retake for at least 1520
Subject Test: Math 2: 770; planning on taking physics after this semester
ECs:
Technology Student Association
Vice President of a Taiwanese volunteering organization (not school club)
Lead Organizer and T.A for a program for the mentally disabled
Math and Science Tutor in after-school program
Robotics 9th grade
UIUC Aerospace summer program
Embry Riddle Aerospace summer program
lvl 10 piano
Intended Major: Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering

Are you in state or OOS for UCs? If OOS then it’s going to be 65,000 a year with no financial aid. And the UC GPA calculation will be different (no weighting for OOS Honors courses, weighting for AP/DE/IB only.
The GPA is high enough for general Purdue admissions, but Engineering is going to be tough plus you are applying to one of their specialties (Aerospace/ME).
Also an Engineering major will be expected to have taken Chemistry as well. Didn’t see that listed in your classes.
Maybe take AP CompSci instead of Econ unless your school has that as a graduation requirement.
I took Chemistry Honors my sophomore year with A’s both semesters.
Since I want to do AE/ME does it matter if I don’t take Physics C senior year and take AP Chem because its almost impossible to get an A in Physics C…at my school at least.
In state for UC’s
Also, thank you so much for the responses!
Since you already took Chem Honors, I don’t think you absolutely need to take AP Chem. Take AP CompSci for the programming experience.
What is your UC weighted GPA?
I’m taking Java right now and I’m clutching A’s so…idk but I’ll consider it for sure.
UC weighted: 4.33 (Our school doesn’t show weighted GPA on transcript though jfyi)
Take Physics C, since UCs look at 10-11 grade GPA only and it’s more rigorous. As long as you get a B in the class you should be fine.
4.33 weighted for UC is solid. Get over 1500 on the SAT and you should be fine. Berkeley and UCLA will be reaches for everybody, but the other UCs should be targets for your major.
Ok thanks!!
