So up to now I’ve had straight A’s and have been ranked 3rd in my class…but my first semester senior year, I got a C (77) in a dual enrollment calculus class.
How badly does this hurt my chances for admissions to the colleges which I have applied, those being some Ivies, Northwestern, WashU, Vandy, and some others?
Please offer some insight, even if it’s something I might not like. Thanks.
Just don’t send your community college transcript? Even if you do, it may not hurt you (though it may not help as well). You’re obviously an accomplished student and it shows initiative to have taken courses outside of school beyond what your high school’s curriculum offers. There’s a lot less hand-holding in CC classes.
It’s a joint-program with our high school and a state-college, and our school requires that the college send transcripts to input grades at the school level. If not, it just looks like I didn’t even take a math course senior year.
It won’t help, but it’ll show colleges that you know how to respond to not getting an A. Believe it or not, colleges are sometimes hesitant to admit straight A students since they don’t know how to react to not getting perfect grades.
