Terrible Freshman Year Grades

I really want to apply to top colleges such as Cornell and John’s Hopkins, but I realized that I probably don’t stand a chance with terrible grades. I screwed up my Freshman year grades terribly, ending with 6 B’s and 2 C’s. In Sophomore year, however, I ended with 7 A’s and only 1 B with only 2 honors. In Junior year, I am on track with ending with all A’s with 3 honors but only 2 AP courses. My SAT is a 1490 (690 reading and 800 math) and I think I have pretty good EC’s. Are my chances ruined for selective colleges due to my terrible first year grades?

No, you have shown a great improvement. But those two schools are reaches for most everyone. Be sure to have matches and safeties on your list.
