Terrible SAT dates...

I retook the SAT I exam (2nd time) in Jan. and got the exact same score of 2210...
While debating whether I should retake it, I realized that the SAT I and IIs are available in May and June...
I'm planning on taking the SAT 2 Math and the ACT, but now I really don't know which month I should take them in. I want to take the test in a month where I know that if I'm not satisfied with my score, I can retake it. May seems to be the choice, but that's also the month for AP Exams.
I know there are SATs in October in senior year, but I feel that's a little too late for ANY SAT.
What should I do? I want good scores for Ivy League potential, like Columbia...

You’re a junior, I’m assuming? If it helps, I took the SATII in May, then the SAT and ACT in June. It worked out fine for me.

October is definitely not too late. Not at all. In fact, my (really competitive / lots of Ivy-sending) high school recommends that students take the SAT in June for the first time, then again in the fall if they’re unhappy with their scores. It’ll give you the summer to prep.

Thank you for replying!
I really don’t know what to do…retaking the SAT seems like a gamble, because I’m worried that I would get a lower score on the third take. That wouldn’t look too good to the college administrators…

Take subject tests in May/June. Trust me focus on doing really well your junior year as opposed to trying to get an extra 50-100 points on your SAT. You’ll have plenty of time to study for the SAT this upcoming summer.

What are the breakdowns of both your SATs?

My first SAT:
CR: 740
Math: 670
Writing: 800

Second SAT
CR: 770
Math: 680
Writing: 760

I would gladly take it in May if I didn’t have AP exams :frowning: I’m worried whether the AP exams will hassle me in studying for SAT 2
I also have a choice of taking the ACT in April or June…

I would like to point out your superscored SAT score is 2250. (770 CR, 680 M, and 800 W).
The only section you should even review for is mathematics. If I were you I would buy one of those (Mathematics Level 1 and 2) prep books. Selective colleges prefer mathematics level 2, but just work through the whole book.

Which subject tests were you planning on taking or haven you already taken any subject tests?

Personally, there really is no point taking the ACT unless you are consistently getting scores of 35 or higher.

I’ve taken the World History and Biology SAT II subject tests (I got 760 and 720 in them, respectively)
I’m planning on taking SAT II Math Lvl 2, and to be quite honest, I’m a little intimidated, seeing my SAT math score…
Would it really be pointless taking the ACT? If I get a good grade on it, does it help? I really want to take it as a “boost-up”

Don’t take the SAT again. After two sittings, I suspect that 2250 isn’t going up much. More importantly, there’s nothing wrong with a 2250 at any college in the country.

If you like taking standardized exams, take the ACT. Many people score significantly higher on the ACT than the SAT.

I’ll definitely take the ACT. I guess the real trouble is WHEN to take all these tests
