^^ so far i have had a 3.7 all year long

Senior year i will be taking 4 classes for the "Young Scholars" progam at our school at some of the local colleges, also i will be in Spanish AP

Now the bad part....my SAT score..... 1480....i know its terrible but i will definatly retake in may and probably june ne advice?

1480 out of 1600 is a FANTASTIC score...ur undermining ur achievements...you will be fine!!!

You are applying to a LARGE number of public schools so I am wondering what state you actually live in. Being out-of-state may hurt you at some of those schools, but I believe that with a 1480/1600 you should be able to get admission to all of those schools.

Now, if you are talking about a 1480/2400..then you got some problems.

If Sats are 1480/1600:
University of Delaware (my top choice by far)=Match
Penn State=Match
Pitt=Match
UMass (amherst)=Match
Indiana University=Match
Uconn=Match
Ohio State=Match
Rutgers=Match
University of Rhode Island=Match
SUNY Albany=Match

Look for more competitive schools in your major

If 1480/2400:
University of Delaware (my top choice by far)=Slight Reach
Penn State=Slight Reach/Reach especially if you want Univ. Park
Pitt=Slight Reach/Reach
UMass (amherst)=Slight Reach/Reach
Indiana University=Slight Reach/Reach
Uconn=Slight Reach/Reach
Ohio State=Slight Reach/Reach
Rutgers=Slight Reach/Reach
University of Rhode Island=Match/Slight Reach
SUNY Albany=Match/Slight Reach

You should take the SATs over. try for at least a 1900?

its out of 2400 :( i feel so dumb....i think im really going to try those act's and im currently taking and SAT class soo....ne ideas on what i can do to keep "sharp" b4 the may SAT?

I disagree with Jimgotkp's ranking...1480/2400 is not going to really get you anywhere

I'm not being critical...I want to give advice that can help you.

Figure out what your doing wrong on the test. Which sections are your strongest/weakest? Because you have a good GPA so I would hate to see your SATs hold you back!

Have you considered PR or Kaplan classes??? They are VERY expensive but at your level, can help you by 200-400 points, AT LEAST! Also, purchase the Blue Book and do practice sections after sections (don't do more than 2-3 in a day at first) and try to build up speed and accuracy.

What are these "Blue Books" everyone is talking about? For my SAT class ihave been working in the Cambridge version of SAT prep.....and
swim2daend....you rly got the same score on the SAT?

The trouble with doing poorly on a standardized test is that... well... they're standardized. If everyone in the nation is taking the same test as you and you're in the 65th percentile, schools are going to know (or at least think they know) that you're in the 65th percentile of high school students, which may or may not be true. GPA, while important, fluctuates wildly among schools, and a student earning a 4.0 at one school may have earned a 2.7 if he or she had attended a different school. I would recommend retaking the SATs or take the ACT - and study really, really hard.
Good luck!

what do you want to do?
try looking at Loyola Marymount University

according to an admissions lady i talked to on wednesday, they weigh grades 6 times more than the SAT.

plus, they look a lot into extracurriculars. its a beautiful school, beautiful location. yea.

definitely take some courses for your SAT though. i did Kaplan and it has already boosted my grade 350 points
consider taking SAT II's if you think you could do better on those
& try getting some leadership positions, it will help

Its easy to improve from about 1400 to 1900, then from a 1900 to 2400. But in order to improve you will have to practice ALOT!! Math is easier to improve then reading. If you score low on reading, you are screwed (usually people with bad reading skills--people who never READ-- do bad on this section--EX: Myself :)). Anyways just PRACTIC PRACTICE.
