Terrible sophomore year = no chance?

Hi, I was wondering if i still had a chance for stanford despite my terrible sophomore year.
unweighted/weighted
freshman year: 3.92 / 4.36
sophomore year: 3.1 / 3.8

junior year: 4.00 / 5.00

cumulative 3.63 / 4.4

(unweighted = out of 4)/(weighted= out of 5)

EC: 2 hours weekly at local hospitalallstate orch(frosh/soph), allnorthwest orch (junior), districts/state golf qualifier (junior year), 300 hrs community service

3 AP's sophomore year
5 AP's junior year + 2 AP's self study
7 AP's senior year (planned)

2250 SAT I
800 Korean
800 Math IIC
790 Biology
780 Chemistry

See, the problem is that Stanford discounts freshman grades, so your GPA takes an even greater hit....

Why were your sophomore grades so low? If you have a good reason (sickness, family problems, etc.) then Stanford may overlook the bad grades.

Is there a place on the application where you can explain bad grades?

i think its just the essay portion

I'm pretty sure you're given an extra page to explain "extenuating circumstances".

sorry, this isnt much help, but your courseload is freaking INSANE

haha i've seen worse. i just wish i could have done better my sophomore year because i know i could have done better. if i did, i wouldn't be here asking this question...

would the "intense" AP course load compensate for it at all? or can perfect SAT scores? thanks
