I am applying for the scholarship section on Appy Texas and I checked that I wanted to apply for the Terry Foundation scholarship. To apply for this you have to write an essay about a obstacle you have overcome or something like that.. My essay b on my UT application is completely relevant to the scholarship prompt and I was wondering if I could just reuse the same essay. I cannot seem to find out anywhere if when they review you for the scholarship they review your essay a and b from the UT application aswell. If that is so I would need to come up with a new topic because using the same one would be repetitive. If anybody knows anything about this or knows anybody that I could contact to find out please let me know it's very much appreciated!

Take a look at this essays page detailing exactly what’s required if you apply for scholarships. http://www.texasscholarships.org/apply/freshman/FSA_essays.html

You’ll note it says you must submit A and B for all, then it lists the scholarships that require an “additional” essay. The Terry one tops the list. (The Terry essay topic is a good match with UT’s optional essay C, which is strongly encourged if you’re applying for scholarships generally. But I don’t know how you’d set that up in ApplyTexas so C applies generally, but specifically fulfills the Terry extra essay requirement. Are there any instructions in ApplyTexas? It sounds like you’ve already completed essay C/the Terry essay–but now you need to go back and do a fresh essay B!)

It says that recipients must live on campus… I’m planning on staying at Srd, does that count or no?

Don’t know! You may want to give the scholarships office a call to find out. It would be awfully hard to turn down the Terry Scholarship–it’s a lot of money and quite an honor.
