So I was searching online for an ebook version of my AP Economics textbook, and I came across the test bank for the book instead. My question is, is it wrong to study from this question bank? I have no way of knowing if my teacher uses this test bank when making tests or not. Is it okay to use as a practice exam and study from?

Well you could self study until your first test, and take the test and then look at the test bank. If the questions are the same, don’t use it because you will be cheating yourself.

Is it cheating myself if I put in all of the work, learn the material and take the test bank test, then take the real test? My goal in any event is to not memorize questions, but to learn the concepts and pass the exam in May. I want 5’s on both Macro and Micro

Until you know that the tests the teacher gives are different from what is in the test bank, yes.
Because if they’re the same then it’s cheating…not just “cheating yourself” or whatever, but cheating in general. And it doesn’t matter what you think your motives are.

By analogy, if I studied more than the kid who sits next to me and I chose to copy off his paper anyway, it would still be cheating even if I would have gotten the same grade or a better grade without doing it.

My problem with that argument is that I’m not memorizing answers from the test bank. I’m not going 1 is a 2 is b…ect. I am testing my knowledge of the concepts that the book deems important, and am gauging any weaknesses I may have to brush up on before the test.

It doesn’t matter! Looking at a test in advance (unless you have an easy teacher who lets you for some reason) is cheating.

Can you PM me the link to the website?

Is it just a set of a ton of questions, or a set of tests for each unit? I would use it for the first test, and if they are the right questions then decide from there. It’s sort of a moral fuzzy area because hey, if the information is out there, it’s fair game, but at the same time you could be deemed a “cheater” because you had an “unfair” advantage. It’s really just how you define those two terms.

It’s a set of 50 multiple choice questions for each chapter. I agree its a moral fuzzy area… But not to be arrogant or anything, but there’s no way I would get caught because I wouldn’t share the information with anyone. Also, its for the second edition of the book, but we use the third edition.

One of the best ways to make it non-fuzzy would be to ask your teacher what he thinks about you using the test banks to study.

VanillaThunder, I totally get what you mean. You just want a extra study tool, and practice tests are pretty good at preparing you. For AP Psych last year, I would just go to Google and type in “ap psychology chapter X test” and some stuff would pop up. The tests on there were never the same as the actual test, but they did a good job preparing me. If I were you, I would definitely go use this test bank you found, since it seems like they would help you and no teacher is dumb enough to use a test that is easily accessible from Google. I’m guessing the chances of the test bank being your teacher’s test are close to none, so using the test bank to help you prepare for the tests. It’s just another efficient study aid.
