Okay, so I am a student of class 11th. I gave my Sat this December and got 2200(Cr 730,M 720 :(,W 750).I know this is not a bad score but I want to retake since I feel I didn't perform to my full potential in maths.
So, my only choice for retaking is in the summers as Jan is all booked out(for sat 2 too) and in March I have school exams and AP exams in May.
So I will have to give Sat 2 before Sat 1 in June and then Sat 1 in July. Are Sat 2's conducted in August or July?, Because I don't want to leave my Sat 1 till the end.
Also ,ideally by what month should I have my scores if I want to apply early to a college?
And to those of you who retook the Sat, did you feel that you had to start over prep again after a period of say 4 to 5 months of giving it the first time or was it okay?

Also, what colleges would be considered safeties with my current score? Is this good enough for colleges like UIUC or Georgiatech? I’m planning on doing computer science.

In the United States there were no SAT exams in the summer of 2012 or 2011. In those two years the first SAT date after summer (July, August) was October.

Generally 2200 is a good score. As I recall, for males, it is 97 percentile, and for females 98 percentile. That said, since SAT scores are one of several factors considered in admissions, it is not possible to say what your “safety” schools might be.

To answer your second question look up the median scores (50 percentile) for schools of interest. The information is readily available. Google it, or look up the admissions statistics for the colleges (often available on their admissions web sites). Keep in mind that some colleges look only at CR and Math.

And what about the prep plan? Should I just do vocab till a month is left and then do practice tests?
