I am currently a junior and because of the limited test dates, I'm not sure of when to take the ACT and SAT II. I was originally planning to take the SAT II on 5/4, but it seems that 6/1 is a better time since I don't have to worry about AP exams at the same time. I was going to take Spanish + US History and take Math II in the fall in October. Is it better to take all three in June or is it alright to just go with my original plan?

Also, I'm focusing on the ACT rather than SAT I and there is also the question of taking it either in June + September, or September + October. I was thinking that if I were to study during summer and take the ACT in September then I could also take it in October to be get the highest possible score. I have already taken the ACT this month (April 13).

Because of the time to receive test scores, I am unsure of what to do. Early decision applications are typically due in November, right? I have not yet decided on a particular school to apply to.

I would suggest to take all 3 subject tests together (only $12 more for the 3rd subject). It is cheaper that way and Math2 should not take you much time to prepare. Math skills are harder to forget than historical facts. If you are not satisfied with the Math2 score, you can always retake it in Fall.
For the ACT test, I think the 4/13 score should be out before the deadline for the 6/8 test registration perhaps with a late fee. Nevertheless, you should be even more thoroughly prepared than the first test before retaking it. Even for EA with deadline in early November, the score from October should be considered.
The key factor would be whether the 4/13 score matches your most recent practice score range. If it does, it probably won’t get you much higher by retaking it in June as you will be focusing on AP and subject tests now. If you found your 4/13 score to be significantly lower than what you expected, then you may just retake it in June to get the standardized tests done before the Summer. Then you can focus on establishing a list of schools (based on your credentials), visiting campus, collecting application info and working on essays over the summer.

Thank you for your advice! I went ahead and changed my SAT II date to 6/1 with all three subjects. I’m also planning to just wait for my ACT scores to return so I can make a final decision.
