Is the format of the SAT always the same? Or is the order in which sections appear sometimes different?

The order will be different except it is ALWAYS
Section 1: 25 minute Essay
2: 25 minute W, M or CR

5 minute break

3: 25 minute W, M or CR
4: 25 minute W, M or CR

5 minute break

5: 25 minute W, M or CR
6: 25 minute W, M or CR

5 minute break

7: 25 minute W, M or CR
8: 20 minute M or CR
9: 20 minute M or CR
10: 20 minute W

One of the 6 25 minute sections (sections 2-7) is experimental and does not count toward your score. It can either be CR, M or W
There are 3 CR, 3 M and 2 W MC then an essay and the variable section

2 sections are the same: section 1 is ALWAYS the essay. Section 10 is ALWAYS the improving sentences

All other sections are variable in terms of order and question number. Generally, the other sections have 16-35 questions.

There is always one section that doesn’t count. It’s quite hard to guess which one.

Just don’t worry about this, as you have no control over it.

Thank you both! This helps a lot.

I’d also like to know if the reading test will always have the same amount of question types for all the test. For example, will there always be the same amount of sentence completion questions? Will the reading passages themselves be arranged in the same order with the same number of questions per passage type?

I’m just trying to get a strategy for my timing.
