Test Optional Policy

Hi, I’m a senior, and I’m strongly considering applying to Brandeis. I just read about the test-optional policy, and I’d like some input as to what I should do. My composite score on the ACT is a 32. I know that’s decent, but I’m just curious if I’d be better off submitting 3 of my AP tests. In addition to some 3’s, I got 5’s on the Calc AB and the US Gov tests, and 4’s on the Micro and World History tests. If I were to go the AP test route, I figure I’d use the Micro score, since I took that test more recently than I did the World History test. Any advice?

I would send the 32 ACT rather than the APs.

I would also suggest definitely sending the 32, which is at the top of their middle 50%.

If you’re applying Common App, and haven’t sent it in yet, you have the choice of self-reporting whichever AP’s you want. I’d suggest reporting the 5’s and the 4’s, which are still good. Whether you report any 3’s is a good question. I’d think probably not. They will know how many AP classes you took, and could probably guess that you got 3’s or possibly didn’t take the test for the others. But they realize that people only present the information that is best for them.
